With all sorts of rumors of new Star Wars stories coming out, it is no surprise that the question was brought up about a sequel to Solo: A Star Wars Story.

Most of the Star Wars films of this new era have been universal blockbusters. While Solo: A Star Wars Story wasn’t one of the top grossing Star Wars films of the new era, from a box office standpoint, it did very well and wasn’t a financial flop. Although it did come up significantly shorter than the other Star Wars films. And enough fans did like it that there is now a pretty large calling for some future stories from that corner of the galaxy and with the characters of Han Solo, Lando Calrissian, and Qi’ra.

In a recent interview for LCB Podcast, Solo: A Star Wars Story director the famed Ron Howard said that he thinks that it is a very real possibility for some more stories. Ron Howard did say:

“No rumblings on it. This is not a spoiler, but I think there is interest in those characters. I think there’s interest in gangster world somewhere down the line. But I can assure you there is nothing being developed right now. Either for a movie or Disney+. But one great thing is there has been a lot of affection shown for Solo in its afterlife. And so of course that keeps boding well for them to eventually turn it around.”

Recently there have been rumblings of a potential show on Disney+ about Lando Calrissian with Donald Glover reprising the role he did for Solo: A Star Wars Story. If this is the case, then it is a very real possibility that Disney+ may decide to add some more characters to Star Wars shows on that platform, doing what they are planning on doing with the Marvel universe and focusing more of their energy on releasing content for Disney+ rather than for theatrical releases.

Ron Howard had no specific details or even any information on anything pertaining to additional stories with any of the characters in Solo: A Star Wars Story, even Lando’s rumored show. But he is very open to the possibility of more stories and sounds like he would be interested in being a part of them.

Even if the story isn’t a continuation of Solo: A Star Wars Story, there are multiple aspects and characters that were introduced in the film. There is interest in continuing something from this film, at least by the fanbase’s point of view since many of them would love to see more stories in this area of the galaxy. Perhaps the rumored Lando show could also feature some of the same characters from the Solo movie.

Fans have been campaigning for a Solo sequel since the film first came out. But there has been no indication that a second film is likely at all. However, with the Disney+ shows opening up some more possibilities, we could definitely see a continuation or other storyline related to Solo: A Star Wars Story. This could come either in the form of the rumored Donald Glover’s Lando or perhaps a storyline that follows Emilia Clarke’s Qi’ra to the underworld. Or maybe fans will get there wish eventually and another space adventure with Han Solo will be written. After all, we know from the originals and the sequels that Han Solo has quite the adventures and is very good at being a scoundrel.

Ron Howard, however, in the interview was most likely referring to the ideas of the rumored Lando series or one with Qi’ra over another Solo movie. He refers specifically to the fact that there is some interest in the characters and/or the world that Solo: A Star Wars Story helped build out.

There isn’t anything concrete yet, and while a movie may not be in the future ever, fans should not discount the fact that there is a possibility of more stories and adventures with one or more of the characters and/or places and events from Solo: A Star Wars Story. Between the films, TV, books, and comics, it is very likely that we will see part of Solo’s world again. The question that remains is: how, when, and how high profile will it be when the story happens.
