Review: Supergeek Designs

My take on the costume design company

For nearly a decade, I've cosplayed some of the best cosplays. From Superman to Spider-Man, you name it. I've done over three dozen characters and have no plans of stopping. In this story, I'll be showing my appreciation and props to a costume company that I've been supporting since 2021. That would be none other than Supergeek Designs. In case you're not familiar with who they are, they have a plethora of authentic and quality superhero costumes, according to their website, from DC to Marvel characters. As of this writing, I own three costumes from them: Symbiote Spider-Man, Spider-Man (Sam Raimi suit), and the Green Lantern. I have one costume on the way, which will be Daredevil. I'll be doing a review on that once it arrives. To find out more about them, head to their website:

So without further ado, here are my thoughts about the following suits.

Symbiote Spider-Man

The first suit that I'm showing off is Symbiote Spider-Man, which I've had since early 2021. This was the first Spider-Man suit where the mask was attached to it. To be honest, it was a struggle to try it on, but eventually, the back was zipped up. Whenever I decide on a Spider-Man suit to purchase, I look at one thing: the designs. In this case, the blue and black color scheme caught my attention. Not only that, but the hexagonal patterns and the type of lenses I chose for my mask. A few months later, I did my very first cosplay photoshoot in almost two years. My wonderful photographer, Carlos, took some great shots of me. Several weeks after my photoshoot, he sent me some cool shots with photo edits that fit my cosplay amazingly well. The image that you see above is one of them. Out of all the photos taken of me, I fell in love with this particular one, just because of the background.

The next suit I'm showcasing is one I've been wanting to do for who knows how long. To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the theatrical release of Spider-Man (2002), I wore this amazing suit, posting pictures and videos on my social media pages. As you can see from this pic from National Spider-Man Day in May 2022, I was holding an open box of pizza from Domino's. Even superheroes like me need fuel. As far as the suit goes, it looked great on me. I would have never imagined going from seeing the movie at 14 to wearing the suit that I've always dreamed of owning becoming a reality. I was recently browsing on eBay and the asking price of a screen accurate version of this suit on eBay, if you have that kind of money, goes for nearly $1,000. The details of that suit looked fantastic, but honestly, as cool as it was, I wouldn't feel comfortable owning something like that. Every time I would put on my current suit, the first thing I think of is hearing the song Hero by Chad Kroeger playing in my head. He's the lead singer from Nickelback, in case you didn't know. By the way, it's my favorite song from the movie while the end credits are rolling.

Green Lantern

Last but not least is a cosplay that I've been eager to do for so long. In September 2022, I debuted the Green Lantern on social media. To embody John Stewart, I had to shave off my moustache, but not my goatee. Either way, the Green Lantern suit looked spectacular and my ring would agree with me on that. I'll be doing another version of the Green Lantern in the near future. Plus, I wouldn't rule out purchasing a Green Lantern lamp to go with this cosplay.

For those who are thinking about buying a costume from Superhero Designs, I would browse the selection of suits they have, plus other items that might peak your interest. Also, sign up to join their email list. That way, you can be in the know about the latest news, sales, and more. If you have a design or idea that you want turned into a costume, Superhero Designs can do that. Finally, I have to give props to Dave. He's responsible for making these wonderful designs for these costumes. His work is awesome and I look forward to supporting his business in the long run. One of the most frequently asked questions I get is how much each of my suits cost. I never mention prices in any of my social media posts. Instead, I refer them to Supergeek Designs' website. You can wear these costumes for your next con, cosplay photoshoot, or just because. I give Supergeek Designs very high marks and based on what I've seen so far online, the reactions and reviews have been positive. The numerous selection of suits, costumes, and other miscellaneous items are affordable. It shows that you don't need to spend thousands of dollars on finding that perfect suit.
