Raakh Series Ending Explained: Who Killed Suman and Sahil and How Were the Killers Caught?
A complete breakdown of the disturbing crime, Jayprakash’s investigation, Babu and Rajjo’s past, and the final courtroom verdict in Raakh.

Spoiler Warning: This article contains major spoilers for Raakh, including the complete story, the identity of the killers, and the ending.
Raakh begins like an ordinary story about two siblings trying to get home after school, but within hours it turns into a disturbing crime investigation. Suman Arora and her brother Sahil disappear while travelling to a radio station, leaving their parents desperate for answers.
What initially looks like a kidnapping soon becomes something much darker. As SI Jayprakash follows a trail of witnesses, forensic evidence, a stolen green car, and an old sword, the investigation eventually connects Delhi with two criminals who had recently escaped from Bombay.
So what really happened to Suman and Sahil? Who were Babu and Rajjo? And how did the police finally catch them?
Suman and Sahil Disappear
The story is set in Delhi in 1978.
Suman and Sahil Arora are siblings studying at the same school. After school, they miss their bus and eventually accept a lift from a stranger. They safely return home, but later Suman has to travel to a radio station because she has been selected to sing on a radio program.
Her mother gives her earrings to wear and sends Sahil along with her.
That evening, their father, Ashok Arora, proudly turns on the radio expecting to hear his daughter perform. However, the entire program finishes without Suman's song being broadcast.
Ashok goes to the radio station and discovers something terrifying: Suman and Sahil never arrived there.
Their disappearance is reported to the police.
SI Jayprakash Takes the Case
SI Jayprakash and ASI Javed begin investigating the disappearance.
The case immediately receives significant attention because Ashok is a respected Army officer. Police initially suspect kidnapping and warn the parents to remain near the telephone in case a ransom demand is made.
But no ransom call comes.
The following morning, a shepherd discovers two bodies in a forest.
They are identified as Suman and Sahil.
Their deaths turn the missing-person investigation into a murder case.
Jayprakash is especially devastated because police officers had searched the same general area the previous night but stopped because of severe rain. The bodies were found only a few hundred metres away.
The Green Car Becomes a Major Clue
Near the crime scene, investigators discover part of a broken car headlight.
Forensic examination indicates that it came from a green vehicle.
This creates a major mystery because witnesses had earlier suggested the children might have accepted a lift on a motorcycle.
Eventually, Jayprakash returns to the forest and discovers an abandoned green car.
Inside it, forensic investigators find fingerprints belonging to Suman and Sahil as well as unidentified prints belonging to two other people.
They also discover an old sword carrying the name Mohanlal Sodhi Churanwala.
That name becomes the investigation's biggest breakthrough.
Who Are Babu and Rajjo?
The series then reveals that two criminals, Babu and Rajjo, had recently travelled from Bombay to Delhi.
Before arriving in Delhi, they had been involved in robberies and the kidnapping of a boy. What started as an attempt to demand ransom ended disastrously after the child tried to escape.
Babu proves to be far more violent and unpredictable than Rajjo.
After the Bombay incident, both men flee to Delhi, where they meet Rajjo's friend Pyare.
Through Pyare, they learn about Ballu, the wealthy son of Mohanlal Churanwala.
Thinking they can steal money from him, Babu and Rajjo break into Ballu's house. Their robbery becomes violent, and they steal several belongings, including old swords carrying Mohanlal's name.
They also steal a green car.
It is the same car later connected to Suman and Sahil's deaths.
Forensic Evidence Points Toward the Killers
Investigators discover that blood belonging to someone other than the victims is present inside the car.
This indicates that one of the attackers was injured during the struggle.
Jayprakash realizes that an injured suspect might have visited a hospital.
That theory proves correct.
A doctor remembers treating two suspicious men. One of them was tall, while the other was shorter, and one had a noticeable burn scar on his hand. Their explanations about their injuries kept changing.
Unfortunately, a police constable had failed to properly register their information.
The suspects had also provided false names and an address connected to Pyare.
Nevertheless, the lead brings police closer to identifying Babu and Rajjo.
A Witness Reveals What Happened on the Road
A reporter named Nisar conducts her own investigation and finds an important eyewitness: a milkman.
He remembers seeing children crying for help from inside a moving vehicle during heavy rain.
He attempted to intervene but was injured when the vehicle escaped.
His statement confirms what investigators increasingly suspect—the siblings were taken away in the green car.
Police eventually track down Pyare, who identifies Babu and Rajjo and explains his connection to them.
The case is finally beginning to come together.
Babu's Past Explains His Violent Behaviour
The investigation also uncovers Babu's disturbing childhood.
Even as a schoolboy, he displayed extremely violent behaviour and was eventually sent to a juvenile institution.
His relationship with his family deteriorated further after his release, and another devastating incident permanently scarred both Babu and his mother.
The series uses these flashbacks to show that Babu's violent behaviour did not suddenly begin with the Delhi murders.
Rajjo, meanwhile, is portrayed differently. Although he participates in crimes with Babu, he repeatedly appears frightened by Babu's increasing brutality.
That difference becomes important when the truth about Suman and Sahil is finally revealed.
How Are Babu and Rajjo Caught?
Jayprakash learns that Babu may have returned to Bombay.
Despite pressure from his superiors and the possibility of disciplinary action, he follows the trail there.
The investigation eventually takes him from Bombay to Agra, where Babu and Rajjo attempt to hide and change their appearances.
Police circulate their sketches throughout the city.
The two suspects are eventually spotted and chased.
Babu and Rajjo try to escape by boarding a train, but Jayprakash follows them. After a tense confrontation in which Babu attempts to use a child as leverage, officers manage to overpower both men.
The fugitives are finally arrested.
Raakh Ending Explained: What Really Happened to Suman and Sahil?
The final part of Raakh reveals the complete sequence of events.
Suman and Sahil were waiting for transportation when the green car driven by Babu and Rajjo approached them.
Initially suspicious, the siblings still accepted the lift because they were desperate to reach the radio station on time.
Inside the vehicle, they soon realized something was wrong.
The children fought back fiercely and managed to injure their attackers. That struggle explains why the forensic team later discovered the suspects' blood inside the car.
The situation eventually moved into the forest, where both children were killed after resisting their attackers. Suman was also subjected to sexual violence before her death.
The revelation confirms that their disappearance was never a carefully planned kidnapping for ransom. Instead, they had tragically entered the vehicle of two dangerous criminals whose actions rapidly escalated.
What Happens to Babu and Rajjo?
After the investigation is completed, Jayprakash's suspension is cancelled.
His determination to continue pursuing the killers despite enormous professional pressure is ultimately recognized, and he is allowed to take his promotion examination.
He later becomes an inspector.
Babu and Rajjo, meanwhile, face trial.
Outside the court, an angry crowd demands the harshest possible punishment.
The court ultimately sentences both criminals to death.
Ashok and Mona sit inside the courtroom as the verdict is delivered. Justice has finally been achieved legally, but nothing can restore the life they had before losing their children.
The Meaning Behind Raakh's Ending
The ending of Raakh is not simply about catching two criminals.
It is also about the chain of small decisions, investigative mistakes, missed warnings, witnesses, and forensic clues that determine whether justice arrives.
Jayprakash repeatedly comes close to losing the investigation. A search is stopped too early. A constable fails to properly document suspicious patients. Witness information emerges late. Even Jayprakash risks his career by continuing the pursuit.
Yet each surviving clue eventually connects.
The green car leads to the sword. The sword leads to Mohanlal Churanwala. That connection leads toward Ballu and Pyare, and Pyare ultimately helps identify Babu and Rajjo.
The tragedy also leaves viewers with a simple but powerful safety message: children should understand the risks of accepting rides from strangers, even when circumstances make the offer appear convenient.
Final Thoughts
Raakh builds its mystery by revealing the crime from two directions.
On one side, viewers follow Jayprakash as he reconstructs the murders clue by clue. On the other, flashbacks gradually reveal Babu and Rajjo's criminal journey from Bombay to Delhi.
By the time both timelines finally meet, every major clue—the green car, the old sword, the hospital visit, the fingerprints and the eyewitness testimony—has a purpose.
The ending is painful rather than comforting. The killers are caught and punished, but Ashok and Mona's loss cannot truly be repaired.
That is what gives the Raakh ending its emotional weight: the case is solved, justice is delivered, but some consequences can never be undone.
