Queer Eye Reboot

So if you guys don't know Queer Eye is now back but on Netflix, which is great news for me because I liked what I saw of the original, but I don't have Bravo. I would get to see it when I house sat or whatever. The original Queer Eye was called Queer Eye for the Straight and premiered in July of 2003 on Bravo. It was so popular that it had a spin off version for women called Queer Eye for the Straight Girl, but the spin off wasn't as popular and only lasted one season. The original fab 5 had the same kind of makeup or structure as this reboot, having one that was an expert in the categories of food, decorating, fashion, culture and grooming.

The original fab 5 have moved on to do other things. I have seen Ted, the food guru, on Chop and other shows, mainly on the Food Network (how's that for finding your niche?). Kyan, the beauty guy, has moved on from doing the occasional talk show appearance and such. He was also invited to do the show 10 years younger on TLC. Thom, the design guy, occasionally makes an appearance on HGTV and the style network. Carson, everybody's favorite fashion guy, has appeared on many talk shows and reality TV shows, including celebrity family feud. He also hosted 2 shows, True Beauty and Carson Nation. Jai, the culture expert, has done many appearances on TV shows and a lady gaga music video. But Jai's most steady work is in the ABC sitcom Malibu Country, Kingdom on DirecTV Audience Network, and The Horizon.

The current series is different, because they have a different fab five and they take longer with the straight guys. They also seem to have more emotional, feel good, made for TV moments. The guys have great personalities on their own, but when they are all together, it's magic.

Prior to the show, all of the guys had very different paths and careers. Antoni, the wine and food guy, was a Polish Canadian actor, model and chef who did random movies and TV shows, including an episode of the Blacklist. He mainly worked in a sushi restaurant in New York to pay rent, since acting and modeling jobs were not consistent. Tan, the fashion guy, is a Pakistani English fashion designer. After college, he worked for Zara, Selfridges and other retailers. After he worked for other retailers and companies, he opened his solo company. He founded women's clothing line, Kingdom & State, and partnered in the founding of the Rachel Parcell clothing line. Karamo, the culture guy, was a TV personality and activist before joining Queer Eye, most notably he was on the Real World Philadelphia. He was the first gay black man on reality TV. He later appeared on more reality TV and was a contributor on some other projects, including Dr. Drew on Call. Bobby, the design guru, started off with Bed Bath and Beyond and Restoration Hardware. He has also made appearances on HGTV, NBC and a few other networks. Then there's Jonathan, my favorite, the grooming guy. He started as an assistant at a salon. He also worked at "Funny or Die" (one of my favorite things on YouTube), where he eventually did his own series "Gay of Thrones"). Right before Queer Eye, he launched his own podcast.

I highly recommend this show, it's an amazing show with a great cast, so enjoy!
