Reeves forces Leonard Wilkes to help him gain access to the nuclear facility.

By the time Jane reaches the plant, Reeves has already made his way toward the control area with explosives.

The final confrontation becomes a race against time.

Jane understands that if Reeves successfully detonates his explosives in the wrong place, the consequences could be devastating.

She reaches the control room but cannot simply walk inside and stop him.

Instead, Jane fires through the barrier separating them and eventually manages to hit Reeves and prevent him from completing his plan.

The immediate threat is stopped.

The nuclear facility survives, and Reeves fails to achieve his dream of creating the destruction that he believes will open the gates of Hell.

Is the Psycho Killer Dead?

This is where the movie delivers its final disturbing surprise.

Jane shoots Reeves during the climax, but he does not actually die.

The ending later reveals that the wounded killer is being transported to a prison in Death Valley, California.

The scene also confirms his identity as Richard Joshua Reeves.
