Peter Movie Story Explained
Peter begins with its title character returning home while carrying painful memories from his past. His mother, Mary, has been mentally unstable for years after witnessing a horrifying family tragedy.
Peter’s older brother David had married Jessie, a woman Mary believed would be the perfect wife for him. But shortly after the marriage, Jessie became unhappy with their simple life and wanted David to leave his family and move to the city.
When David refused, Jessie began isolating him from his mother. The conflict eventually became horrifying when Jessie poured kerosene over herself and David. What initially appeared to be a threat went terribly wrong, and both were burned to death in front of Mary.
The trauma destroyed Mary emotionally. Even years later, she remains haunted by what happened in the room where David and Jessie once lived.
Why Does Mary Hate Radha?
When a widow named Radha moves into that same room with her young son Venu, Mary immediately becomes frightened.
She associates Radha with Jessie and believes another tragedy is about to happen.
Peter initially tries to force Radha to leave because he thinks removing her from the house will protect both his mother and Radha’s son. But Radha refuses to be intimidated.
What Peter does not know is that Radha has a much more personal reason for being there.
Peter and Meera’s Love Story
Years earlier, Peter was the leader of a respected Chande drum group. Although he dreamed of earning money abroad, music, devotion and his group were central to his life.
During this period, Peter fell deeply in love with a college student named Meera.
Their relationship became serious, and Meera eventually discovered that she was pregnant.
Peter promised that he would not abandon her. Unfortunately, another conflict was unfolding at the same time.
Peter had previously clashed with Sharad, a member of the Chande group who had started behaving recklessly. After Sharad was badly injured and later died, his brother Shubham believed Peter was responsible.
Peter’s closest friend, Shambhu, convinced him that Shubham wanted to kill him and that he needed to leave town immediately.
Peter trusted him.
That decision changed everything.
What Really Happened to Meera?
After Peter disappeared, pregnant Meera approached Shambhu looking for answers.
Instead of telling her that Peter had been forced to run away, Shambhu cruelly told her that Peter had abandoned her after learning about the pregnancy.
He humiliated her and made her believe she had been used.
Devastated and believing Peter had left her alone, Meera took her own life.
Peter, meanwhile, was told a completely different version of events. Shambhu informed him that everyone had discovered Meera’s pregnancy and that she had died, while continuing to warn Peter not to return.
Peter therefore spent years believing that circumstances and his own absence had destroyed the woman he loved.
Who Is Radha Really?
One of Peter’s biggest twists reveals that Radha is Meera’s older sister.
She knows about Peter because Meera had spoken about him before her death.
Shambhu manipulated Radha too, convincing her that Peter was responsible for her sister’s tragedy.
That explains the mysterious attempts on Peter’s life.
Radha had deliberately moved close to him to take revenge. She placed a wire across the road hoping to cause an accident and later attempted to burn Peter while he was bathing.
But Peter survived both attacks.
When Peter finally enters Radha’s room and sees Meera’s photograph, the connection becomes clear.
Peter Ending Explained: Shambhu Is the Real Villain
The biggest revelation comes when Shambhu finally appears and confesses the truth.
Shambhu was secretly responsible for almost everything.
His motive was jealousy and ambition.
Peter was respected as the leader of the Chande group, while Shambhu wanted control. With Peter gone, Shambhu could turn the group into a money-making business and become its leader.
He admits that he deliberately created the conflict involving Sharad and Peter.
He also reveals that he killed Sharad while Sharad was in the hospital, knowing the death would make Shubham blame Peter.
Shambhu then manipulated Peter into fleeing town.
After Peter left, he destroyed Meera emotionally by making her believe Peter had abandoned her. Later, he lied to Peter about what had happened.
Years later, he manipulated Radha into believing Peter was responsible for Meera’s death.
Peter and Radha were therefore never the real enemies.
Both were victims of Shambhu’s lies.
Does Radha Kill Shambhu?
Yes.
After revealing the truth, Shambhu attempts to kill Peter and Radha so that his secrets can disappear with them.
A violent struggle follows, and Radha eventually stabs Shambhu multiple times.
Shambhu dies, finally allowing Radha to avenge Meera’s death—not by killing Peter, but by killing the man who actually destroyed her sister’s life.
Radha later leaves the village with her son.
Peter tells her that he will handle what happened to Shambhu, and his death remains a secret between them.
What Does the Final Chande Scene Mean?
The movie ends with Peter returning to the Chande group and once again playing during the Mahapuja.
While performing, he imagines Meera standing before him.
Peter begins to cry, but he continues playing.
This final moment is important because Peter cannot change the past or bring Meera back. What he can do is stop running from his life.
For years, Shambhu took away Peter’s love, reputation, friendships and passion.
By returning to the Chande drums, Peter finally takes part of his identity back.
Meera remains with him as a memory rather than a mystery.
Peter Ending Explained in Simple Words
Shambhu was the mastermind behind Peter’s suffering. He created the conflict with Sharad, caused Peter to flee, manipulated pregnant Meera until she lost hope, lied to Peter about her death and later turned Radha against him.
Radha eventually discovers that Peter loved Meera and never deliberately abandoned her.
Once Shambhu confesses, Radha kills him.
She leaves with her son, while Peter returns to the Chande group and begins rebuilding his life while carrying Meera’s memory with him.
