At first Odd feels relieved because the bowling alley employees wear green uniforms.

Then he discovers that their uniforms have recently been changed to red.

Elsewhere in the house, Odd finds information about violent criminals and clues suggesting that a major attack is being planned.

Most importantly, a calendar has information connected to the 15th.

Fungus Bob Is Already Dead

The investigation becomes even more confusing when Odd later finds Bob’s dead body inside his own apartment.

Bob has apparently been dead for hours.

Odd finally understands something important: the figure chasing him earlier was not Bob himself but Bob’s ghost.

This means another person killed Bob and may now be trying to frame Odd for the murder.

Instead of immediately contacting the authorities, Odd hides Bob’s body inside an abandoned factory while continuing to search for answers.

At the same time, someone attacks the police chief who has been secretly helping Odd.

The chief survives because Odd had previously given him a protective necklace containing a metal plate. Two bullets strike the plate, saving his life.

The Prince of Darkness Tattoo Reveals the Conspiracy

Odd eventually examines Bob’s corpse again and notices a tattoo connected to the Prince of Darkness.

The pieces finally begin falling into place.

Bob was not acting alone.

Then a supernatural portal opens and enormous numbers of bodachs begin spreading through the building.

Panic soon begins when people discover that an armed attacker is inside.

The exits have been locked, trapping shoppers inside.

A masked shooter begins firing into the crowd.

Odd takes a gun belonging to one of the conspirators and goes after him.

With only a few bullets available, Odd manages to shoot and eventually kill the attacker.

But when he removes the mask, he makes another shocking discovery.

The shooter is not the person he expected.

There is still another conspirator.

And the massacre is not over.

The Real Plan Was Much Bigger Than a Shooting

The ghost of a murdered woman appears and guides Odd toward the parking area.

There he discovers a truck filled with fuel barrels.

Hidden among them is a timed explosive.

The shooting inside the mall was only part of the plan.

The attackers intended to create panic, trap people inside the building, and then detonate a massive bomb.

If the truck explodes near the crowded mall, hundreds of people could die.

Odd realizes there is no time to safely dismantle the bomb.

His only option is to move it.

How Does Odd Stop the Pico Mundo Massacre?

Odd climbs into the truck and drives it away from the mall.

One of the conspirators pursues him and repeatedly fires into the vehicle.

Odd is wounded, but he refuses to stop.

He knows every second he keeps the explosive truck moving farther away gives the people inside the mall a better chance of surviving.

Eventually Odd jumps from the moving truck.

The conspirator is unable to regain control.

The truck crashes into a canal away from the crowded mall and explodes.

Odd is badly injured and loses consciousness.

When he wakes up in the hospital, he learns that his actions prevented a catastrophe.

Hundreds of people are alive because he refused to run away.

Odd has become the hero who saved Pico Mundo.

But the movie has kept its most devastating revelation for the end.

Odd Thomas Ending Explained: Is Stormy Dead?

After leaving the hospital, Odd spends several peaceful days with Stormy.

They cook together, eat ice cream, talk, and enjoy the ordinary life they had always wanted.

After everything Odd has survived, these moments feel like his reward.

Then the police chief, his wife, and Viola arrive.

They tell Odd that he needs to come home.

Odd is confused.

He believes he already is home with Stormy.

That is when the truth is finally revealed.

Stormy died during the mall attack.
