Neurodivergent versus neurotypical, or "Come on Greta"

(excerpt from my not published yet book iHealeress, memoirs of shameless old lady who befriended the Universe)

At the beginning of the 2000s, Sydney Ideas advertised a lecture on the consequences of our poor diet, which is said to be rapidly deteriorating human health. The lecture had been given by a Russian female doctor who accused our blind and corrupted food industries of causing it.

I have great respect for Russian education as in my opinion it provides training in nearly every branch of medical knowledge and what I know from discussions with other Russian doctors is that their training includes not only the modern approach to medicine, but also basic folk healing. They quite often have to intervene without medications and sufficient equipment.

My friend Tania, who started her career as a doctor in Russia in 80s told me absolutely unbelievable stories from her practice.

The lecturer doctor, whose name unfortunately slipped from my memory, advocated for switching immediately to organic prepared food from scratch and homemade meals. She gave many other tips on how to enhance good health and reverse illness. She showed us statistics of rapidly increasing numbers of neurodivergent people suggesting that it is the result of inadequate nutrition, all sorts of pollution, and inappropriate lifestyles. She lamented that if we do not act now, by 2030 half of all newborn children will be out of the spectrum. She forecasted the end of the world by estimating that if we add to the number of neurodivergent people a number of sick and elderly people who need support, there will be not enough neurotypical people to take care of that impaired group of people.

I agree with the doctor that nutrition has a big impact on our mental and physical health. I also agree on the reversibility of ill health when good food and a proper lifestyle is implemented.

But I do not agree with "the end of the world." Life is like a lava lamp. It goes up and down in an unpredictable way. On the other hand, "the ends of small worlds" is happening constantly and in this case, it could be the end of the world of neurotypical people. Probably when the neurodivergent people grow in numbers and reach a majority, it would be them who will create "spectrums" and our contemporary neurotypical person would be considered out of the new spectrum and labelled, for example, as neuro-obsolete.

During the pandemic, a time of change and cleansing, I spent a lot of time studying various topics. One of them was psychopathy, narcissism, and sociopathy. I watched many videos on YouTube by Dr. Ramani. It gave me great insight into my life as well as the provided enormous comfort of belonging to a community of subscribers. My next topic of study was neurodivergence, empaths, and INFJs-- other groups I somehow identify with, particularly after I familiarise myself with these topics more.

During my investigations into Asperger’s syndrome, I came across a YouTube video in which a lovely young man was explaining his lack of ability in recognising a neurotypical person's emotions. That caused the neurotypical person to label him as rude. "The insult" often caused exclusion from their social circle.

The young man was really trying to convince the audience that his/our intentions are pure and that insults are never on our mind.

And truly, I nearly exploded.

Wait a minute, young man! Why do you apologise? For what? For your emotions, which are so complicated and deep that they are beyond the imagination of neurotypical people? That you are not interested in their stupid gossip and small talk? That your IQ is twice theirs?

They excluded you from their circle. So who should apologise to whom?

Come on Greta. You have more and more supporters! Together we'll make it!
