Netflix & Binge

Grab the popcorn

It's safe to say I watch the same 5 things on repeat and when I do switch it up, it's rare. As I'm writing this, I'm re-watching The Vampire Diaries for the 4th time through. Why? Comfort.

I have new show or movie anxiety. If I know that I already like something, like TVD (The Vampire Diaries), I will stick to it and re-watch it like my life depends on it.

Audience Q: What's your comfort show?

When I do switch up the narrative and watch a new movie or TV show, it's usually on Netflix. I have Hulu, but that is reserved for new episodes of Grey's Anatomy and King of Queens.

Netflix has a wide variety of TV shows and movies. Yes, they have taken off MANY things in the past that were amazing shows.

*cough cough* FRIENDS

ICONIC

I know I'm not the only one still mourning the loss of this show on Netflix. Can someone please buy my the series on DVD? Thanks in advance.

Now, you want my formula for finding the perfect TV show or movie? Well, let me share some tips I use to help me pick my next binge and you can decide whether they are helpful or not. Sound good?

First up, GENRES.

Genres are essential to picking out your next viewing. You need to decide what you're in the mood for. For me, I'm usually in the mood for a good romantic chick flick or a sad movie that will make me sob and question everything. (My boyfriend doesn't understand why I do that to myself, ladies can you back me up? Sometimes we just need a good cry!)

Whether you're in the mood for an older chick flick, 10 Things I hate About You, Clueless, and She's the Man or a newer version such as To All the Boys I've Loved Before, Set It Up (I've watched this multiple times and still LOVE), and Someone Great there's something for everyone.

The new TV show Bridgerton is, shall we say, explicit, but really good for historical fans. That and The Crown, a show I'm currently trying to get through, are a more modern take on life back in the 1800s or so.

History buffs, don't come at me for that. I have no sense of time and as I'm writing this, don't feel the need to research the exact time frame.

Secondly, find out what's new on Netflix, or you're preferred viewing platform.

When searching for something new to watch, I always look towards the new shows or movies that have just come out. If it looks like something I would be interested in or willing to give it a try, I watch.

Netflix originals like The Outer Banks have me begging for a second season. I know we're all waiting on that. Throwback to quarantine 2020, am I right?

Paradise on Earth

Netflix has come out with some pretty amazing, and some creepy, documentaries.

Recently, Night Stalker was a good binge that I watched in an entire day. Granted, there's only 4 episodes, an hour long each. I wouldn't reccommend watching that alone...or at night.

American Murder: The Family Next Door, Crime Scene: The Vanishing at the Cecil Hotel (SO GOOD), The Last Dance (Michael Jordan fans, you'll want to watch this), and Tiger King: Murder, Madness, & Mayhem are just a few of the binge-worthy documentaries put on Netflix in the past year.

Thirdly, ask reccomendations from your friends.

Besides me, giving you some amazing reccomendations in this post (in my opinion), friends and family are a great resource for shows and movies. Every so often, I'll ask around and see what everyone's been watching.

When I lived with roommates, we would watch new shows together and see if we liked them.

One of my old roommates enjoyed Firefly Lane, which is also a book if I remember correctly. I didn't enjoy it, but she binged it in one day I believe.

Everyone is different and everyone has different tastes. It's all about finding what genre you're in the mood for and seeing what's out there on these viewing platforms. Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, and others I cannot think of right now, are all great resources for shows depending on your preference.

Grab that popcorn, pull that blanket over your lap, and try out a few of my reccomendations. Let me know if you enjoy them as much as I did.

Don't forget to give my post a like, it helps me out and lets me know you enjoy my content! Go forth and conquer the day.
