My favorite shows from the Renaissance age of Cartoon Network

You're officially an OG if you know any of these

Watching tv was one of our favorite things to do when we were kids. But watching tv on Saturdays was the best thing ever. We could get up early every Saturday morning to watch our favorite shows. We would watch every kids' channel ever: Nickelodeon, Disney Channel, etc. But the number one channel for watching cartoons is none other than Cartoon Network. While they had successful shows in the 1990s and 2000s such as Ed, Edd, n Eddy, Codename: Kids Next Door, The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy, Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, Johnny Bravo, The Powerpuff Girls, Teen Titans, Dexter's Laboratory, and many others, they had more successful shows during an era known as the Renaissance age, which started in 2010. This was the era of Cartoon Network that I grew up with. And I am here today to talk about it.

The Amazing World Of Gumball

Set in the fictional town of Elmore, California, This show follows the misadventures of 12-year old cat Gumball Watterson, known for his mischievous and imaginative personality. He lives with his family; Darwin, the 10-year old goldfish who was originally Gumball's pet, but grew legs and became part of the family, Anais, the 5 year old girl who is the youngest and only daughter who is the smartest one in her family, and attends the same middle school as her brothers, Nicole, the breadwinner of the family who is short tempered, and Richard, the dim-witted stay at home dad. Whenever Gumball isn't causing any trouble, he is usually chasing after Penny Fitzgerald, his dream girl who was a peanut until the season 3 episode "The Shell" when she became a fairy. There was times when this show made me laugh until I cried.

Adventure Time

Do you want to go explore different lands? Then go watch Adventure Time. Adventure time is about a duo consisting of Finn and his dog/brother Jake. They go on all types of adventures from saving Princess Bubblegum from The Ice King, to fighting different beasts. I didn't watch this show as much as other shows, but I still enjoyed it.

Regular Show

You've probably watched Regular Show if you were born after 1995. Set in a fictional city, Regular Show is about a blue jay named Mordecai and a raccoon named Rigby. Together, the two friends work as landscapers at a local park. However, they are known for their horrible work ethic, which infuriates their hotheaded boss Benson, a anthropomorphic gumball machine who is the park manager. Other characters include Skips, a yeti who has been alive for centuries, Pops, a childlike being from another planet, who's adoptive father happens to own the park, Muscle Man, a green humanoid figure who lives in a trailer, and Hi-Five Ghost, Muscle Man's best friend. What I found interesting about this show is that unlike most shows on Cartoon Network, this one is slightly more adult-orientated. Which is interesting, because Regular Show was originally supposed to air on Adult Swim, the adult nighttime block that airs on Cartoon Network. But Cartoon Network liked the idea so the show's creator JG Quintel, moved the show to Cartoon Network.

MAD

This show was definitely one of my all time favorite shows ever on Cartoon Network. I would watch it a lot. Out of all the shows on Cartoon Network, I watched this one the most. What I liked about this show is that it made a lot of pop culture references and parodied many movies, tv shows, video games, celebrities, music, and many other types of media. I also liked how they used different types of animation in their skits. People have said that MAD is Robot Chicken for kids, and I can agree with that. A lot of people didn't like this show, but I was among the people who enjoyed this show, even though I never read the magazine. My favorite part of the show was the Spy vs. Spy segment, and I always rooted for the black spy.
