Movie Biopics That NEED To Be Made

Movie biopics are a big hit in Hollywood nowadays. Proof of that is Bohemian Rhapsody, Rocketman, Oppenheimer, and The Iron Claw to name a few.

But there is still some celebrities that have shockingly not received the big screen treatment yet. With that in mind, I've put some suggestions together for who deserves a biopic, plus some ideas on what should be covered and who could work in the roles!

10. Dolly Parton

Country music is only getting more popular nowadays, and what better way to celebrate that than to get a Dolly biopic?

A full on movie about the country star would be a real hit. Charting her journey from humble beginnings in Tennessee to becoming the Queen of Country would a thrill ride, especially if we got see some her hits performed, such as "Jolene", "9 to 5" and "I Will Always Love You".

The flick wouldn't even necessarily need to show her entire life. Either up until her first big hit or midway through would do great.

As for who could nail the role? Well there's a few names to throw around. Descendants' Dove Cameron could be a fun fit. Voicemails for Isabelle's Zoey Deutch would also be a really good fit. A personal favourite choice would be Game of Thrones' Emelia Clarke, who would definitely carry Parton's energy well and does seem to have a slight resemblance to the country star too.

9. Monty Python

The iconic comedy troupe need their time in the spotlight again, and this could be a perfect way to do that.

Getting to see some of our favourite Python moments would be brilliant. The TV show sketches. Life of Brian. The Holy Grail. Everything! It would be a funny walk down memory lane.

But the group also had things going on in their personal lives that would be interesting to touch on for each member. Plus there was the early death of Gary Chapman that would be a real emotional moment for the movie.

Would I also be able to request that the title is "Monty Python's Life of Monty Python"? We all love a silly play on names, don't we? It's very Python-esque.

As to who could play the iconic Pythons? Well, I've whittled it down to my top pick for each star:

• Superman's Nicholas Hoult as John Cleese

• Rocketman's Taron Egerton as Michael Palin

• Prisoners' Paul Dano as Terry Jones

• Trying's Rafe Spall as Eric Idle

• House of the Dragon's Matt Smith as Terry Gilliam

• Doctor Who's Arthur Darvill as Graham Chapman

8. Billy Joel

Isn't it time for the Piano Man to get a full on movie adaptation of his own?

The tale of a kid from the Bronx going on to give us some of the biggest songs ever would be pretty cool on the big screen. Seeing new versions of the likes of "Piano Man", "Uptown Girl" and "Vienna"? Count us in!

We would also get to touch on some deeper parts of Joel's life. His marriages. His issues with mental health. It's a bit of a staple with biopics to go down that route, we know, but it lets us see the human behind the star.

The title would also need to be "Piano Man" or "And So It Goes" too. Too good of a opportunity to pass those up.

So, who could play Billy Joel? He may be a bit older than we would want, but Dune's Oscar Isaac would be a great fit. Especially given that he's already had experience in a musical role. If we wanted to take it in a younger direction, then Black Adam's Noah Centineo would be a chef's kiss option.

7. Eddie Murphy

We'd surely roar with laughter at a biopic about this guy, right?

Eddie Murphy has been one of the most well known comedy actors of our time. Since booming in the 80's, he gave us classic comedies like Beverly Hills Cop, Trading Places and Coming to America.

Murphy's movie would obviously have his comedic career at the forefront, but his run ins with the law and personal life would obviously need to creep in there somewhere.

So, who could play Eddie Murphy? Well, my top choice would probably be F1's Damson Idris. Abbott Elementary's Tyler James Williams would also be a great choice.

6. U2

Surely it's time to give Bono and the guys their time on the big screen?

U2 are one of the biggest bands on the planet, and have been going since the late 70s. So with that in mind, there would be a lot to dive into.

Obviously we would want to hear hits like "Sweetest Thing", "One" and "Pride (In the Name of Love)", but it would be very interesting to watch the band and their charity work. It has been a big part of their career since Live Aid in 1985, and also sparked their work with Bob Geldof.

But, who could fill the lead roles? Here's my top picks:

• Aftersun's Paul Mescal as Bono

• Black Mirror's Alex Lawther as The Edge

• The King's Man's Harris Dickinson as Adam Clayton

• Masters of the Air's Fionn O'Shea as Larry Mullen Jr.

Yeah, Mescal and Dickinson are already part of an on-screen musical quartet with the Beatles movies incoming, but let's just make our peace with that, shall we?

5. Don Rickles

There's got to be a biopic for Mr Warmth on the way.

Rickles was known for his scathing comedy but also for how loveable he was. He was a big face in Vegas, had a long-lasting marriage with his wife Barbara, and was also a close personal friend of the likes of Frank Sinatra and Bob Newhart.

With how great Rickles' stand-up could be, it would be a real treat for us to have him back on screens in some form.

I'll be honest. I struggled finding anyone who would be right for this role. Frozen's Santino Fontana came to mind, as did The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel's Michael Zegen. But on the whole, the person who I think would knock the role out of the park would be Supergirl's David Krumholtz.

4. Oasis

It's one we've been waiting on for a while.

Oasis have been a big name band since the 1990s, and they've caused their mayhem ever since.

Either the Gallagher brothers and their pals have been in the tabloids creating havoc or famously feuding with themselves, which would make for a great end to a second act, leading into an iconic comeback for the third.

Yep. It would be a pretty iconic movie to see these guys getting their own rag to riches story. As for a name? "Live Forever", "Acquiesce" and "The Masterplan" have a ring to them.

So, who could portray Liam, Noel and the rest of the crew. Well, here's my top picks:

• Hamnet's Joe Alwyn as Noel Gallagher

• Legends' Tom Hughes as Liam Gallagher

• Misfits' Matthew McNulty as Bonehead

• The Bay's Ceallach Spellman as Paul McGuigan

• Coronation Street's Sam Retford as Tony McCarroll

3. Stan Lee

A big screen movie for the man who gave us some of our favourite Marvel superheroes. Sounds about right, doesn't it?

"Stanley Lieber"'s beginnings with Marvel would be an interesting watch, especially when seeing his affiliation with the likes of Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko. We would get to see the stories behind what got the likes of Spider-Man, The Hulk and The Fantastic Four into the comic books.

And the face that portray Stan Lee? The MCU's own Paul Rudd would be a decent choice. So would Sherlock's Andrew Scott. Ultimately, although he may be out of the usual age bracket and is a bit of an obvious fan cast, The Studio's Bryan Cranston. Excelsior casting if you ask me!

2. Fleetwood Mac

This is one we've been waiting on for way too long.

Fleetwood Mac have seen a lot of drama throughout their time together, and it would make for the perfect blockbuster biopic.

You would get some big screen versions of the likes of "Rhiannon", "Gypsey" and "Landslide", and you'd also get to see some of their most turbulent times. Especially the fallout of Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham's relationship.

Much like Bohemian Rhapsody, the movie would likely mainly centre on one member of the band. Steve Nicks would fit that bill of course.

As for who would portray each member of the band, well I have my top picks covered:

• We Live in Time's Florence Pugh as Stevie Nicks

• Spider-Man: No Way Home's Andrew Garfield as Mick Fleetwood

• Smile 2's Ray Nicholson as Lindsey Buckingham

• Succession's Nicholas Braun as John McVie

• Guardians of the Galaxy's Karen Gillan as Christine McVie

This would actually make for a nice second pair-up for Pugh and Garfield following their performances in We Live in Time.

1. Robin Williams

Could we even handle a biopic about this guy?

Robin Williams spent his career as a man always living at 1000 miles per hour. He was always switched on for the crowd and was the source of entertainment everywhere he turned. He was a big name in Hollywood and became the face of some of our favourite movies, such as Mrs Doubtfire and Good Morning, Vietnam.

But, most importantly for Robin Williams, we would get a chance to see his softer, more sensitive side. Williams had relationships break down, he lost friends, and also had a very close friendship with the likes of Billy Crystal and Whoopi Goldberg. Given how Williams sadly passed away, it would be important to not only show the entertainer side of him, but also the hidden side that he kept behind closed doors.

The big question (almost impossible to answer) is who would have the chops to take on a role like this? The Batman's Paul Dano wouldn't be too shabby. The same for The Roses' Andy Samberg. But ultimately, I think one actor who would be the best choice would be Christy's Ben Foster,
