After just one episode, Marvel's new series, Moon Knight, is already proving a hit with fans. The series stars Oscar Isaac as Marc Spector, a mercenary with Multiple Personality disorder who becomes a conduit for the Egyptian Moon God, Khonshu, a process which leads to Spector become the superhero Moon Knight. Isaac also plays Steven Grant, Spector's mild-mannered alternate personality, and Mr. Knight, a more intellectual version of Moon Knight who manifests when the Grant personality is dominant.

While Moon Knight is envisioned as a mostly standalone series, with fewer of the Easter Eggs and tie-ins fans have come to expect, it is definitely still a part of the wider MCU, so eventually, other events and characters will encroach on Moon Knight's world. Here are some of the characters most likely to crossover with Moon Knight first when that time comes.

1. Daredevil

In the comics, while Moon Knight will work together with other heroes when needed, the complications caused by his alter ego's mental illness means that working alone remains his first preference. However, if a situation arises in which Moon Knight gets to choose a partner to team up with, his first choice will always be Matt Murdock, aka Daredevil. Moon Knight considers Daredevil his closest ally among his fellow heroes, and there are definite similarities between the two characters. Both are considered street-level heroes, and both have had significant disadvantages to overcome in their journey towards heroism. The two team up on many occasions over the years, and during a soft reboot of the Marvel universe in the early 2000s, at Daredevil's urging, Moon Knight joins a new team of street-level heroes his old friend has formed. Though never officially named on-panel, the group was known in merchandasing as the Marvel Knights. Luke Cage and Iron Fist, who starred alongside Daredevil in the Defenders miniseries, are also part of the team.

Interestingly, Daredevil has recently officially rejoined the MCU, with Matt Murdock's memorable cameo in Spider-Man: No Way Home, and the Daredevil TV series, originally streaming on Netflix, has now relocated to Disney Plus, with growing rumours of a series revival on the horizon. Some fans think the timing of Daredevil's relocation, just a few weeks before Moon Knight's premiere, cannot be a coincidence, and we will very likely see a team-up in the future.

2. Echo

Maya Lopez, aka Echo, is a young deaf woman who develops a near superhuman ability to mimic the movements of others, using this skill to become an expert martial artist. Raised by the crime-lord Kingpin, Echo eventually turns against him after learning that Kingpin killed her Father. Initially an ally and love interest of Daredevil, recent years have seen the character more closely associated with Moon Knight.

After Echo rescues Moon Knight from a bad situation involthe villain Snapdragon, the two decide to team up to investigate and defeat the new West Coast Kingpin. For a time, it seems as though Echo and Moon Knight are heading for a romantic relationship, but Echo is tragically killed by the West Coast Kingpin, Count Nefaria, before any such relationship begins.

Echo recently made her MCU debut in the Hawkeye series, played by Alaqua Cox, and has a spin-off of her own in the works. As both street-level heroes and relative newcomers to the MCU, it makes sense that we could see a Moon Knight/Echo partnership sometime soon.

3. Shang-Chi

Shang-Chi, a gifted martial artist, made his Marvel Comics debut in the early 70s. Inbetween his own adventures attempting to defeat his evil Sorceror Father, Shang-Chi featured in regular team-ups with other Marvel martial artists. In 2021, the character, played by actor Simu Liu, made his MCU debut in the film Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. The cinematic version of Shang-Chi comes with a mystical boost to his abilities, as his Mother was born in the mystical world of Ta Lo.

In the comics, Shang-Chi serves alongside Moon Knight as a member of the Marvel Knights. Moving forward, the MCU will likely want to begin forging bonds between the newer characters of the kind that existed between the original Avengers in the MCU's earlier phases. The fact that Moon Knight and Shang-Chi have a relationship in the comics, even a small one, increases the likelihood that they will encounter each other sooner or later.

4. Jake Gomez, aka Werewolf by Night #2

Jake Gomez is the second character to star in the Werewolf by Night comic book, making his debut in October of 2020. At age 13, Jake inherits a curse that causes him to transform into a Werewolf. After gaining control of his Werewolf side, Jake makes use of his wolfy abilities to investigate a recent spate of disappearances from the Reservation where he lives. A Werewolf by Night TV special is currently in production, set to debut on Disney Plus just in time for Halloween 2022.

Moon Knight's comic debut came in an issue of the original Werewolf by Night. While the special focuses on a different werewolf, (Jake Gomez as opposed to the original, Jack Russel) some fans are now expecting a Moon Knight cameo or reference as a fun Easter Egg.

5. The Scarlet Witch

Moon Knight and the Scarlet Witch, Wanda Maximoff, have relatively little to do with one another in the comics, except for the occasional encounter during big events, or mentions in stories involving the Darkhold, a dark magical book now closely tied to Wanda. The idea of the Scarlet Witch and Moon Knight crossing over in the MCU comes mostly from fans latching on to a particular line in the Moon Knight trailer, spoken to Marc Spector by villain Arthur Harrow:

"There's Chaos in you."

Some have linked this quote to the Chaos Magic that makes Wanda the Scarlet Witch. While the evidence may be somewhat tenuous, a crossover with a proven fan favourite like Wanda could provide a boost to Moon Knight's profile that may help spark interest in those less knowledgable about the character. It could also be a fun Easter Egg for fans of the film In Secret, in which Oscar Isaac and Elizabeth Olsen starred together prior to their MCU appearances.

While the above characters seem the most likely candidates for a crossover, the MCU is known for big surprises, so what we expect may be very different to what we eventually end up with.

For now, we can focus on getting to know Moon Knight and his various personalities better over the rest of the series.
