The final confrontation becomes more complicated when Barron uses his shape-shifting ability to copy Jacob.

Suddenly, there appear to be two Jacobs.

The children cannot immediately determine which one is real.

But Barron has overlooked something.

Jacob can see the invisible Hollow approaching them.

Barron cannot react properly because he does not possess Jacob’s ability.

The creature attacks Barron while he is disguised as Jacob, exposing his true identity.

Barron’s deception collapses and he is ultimately defeated.
