A Story with Values

Have you ever watched a drama, that touched you? The messages, the characters, the storyline really made you realize there is a totally different world other than your own. That’s exactly what Miss Hammurabi did for me! Miss Hammurabi is more than just a drama, it’s a story, a true reflection!

Miss Hammurabi is a legal show about three judges that work in the Seoul High Court who make verdicts on the many civil cases they are presented with. This drama deals with some of current societal problems at the same time trying to combat stereotypes to show the rightful action. Miss Hammurabi, also known as Park Cha O Reum, played by Go Ara along with her fellow right side judge, Im Ba Reun, played by Infinite’s L, make verdicts, fight personas, and declare justice in a unique way!

I really enjoyed this show, was never a dull moment certainly a well-executed piece of art! However, it is a little bitter sweet that the show has ended, but all good things must come to an end.

Here are my five reasons for loving Miss Hammurabi:

1. Life of a Judge:

Each career has its own ups and downs, nothing is perfect, however with the perspective things change and that’s what life is. This drama made me realize that money whichever amount you own doesn’t buy you happiness. It’s the hard work and the fruits of those efforts that can really buy you happiness. Park Cha O Reum a happy giggly individual brought smiles and tears to many individuals but her messages and her values are fundamental reason that this thrived and became such a hit! Her constant love for people reflected in her actions, making her the most loved throughout the show!

2. The Characters:

Each character was phenomenal in each scene, they were perfect executing and delivering the right emotions. As any good show revolves around the two main leads, Park Cha O Reum and Im Ba Reun, this did as well but the role and impact of the presiding Judge Han’s presence throughout the show on each case clearly guiding and distinguishing between the right from the wrong made you love his role! From the careless but thoughtful mentor to the hard impacting and strict judge his role as the presiding judge really made the show a great hit!

3. The Subtle Love Story:

Miss Hammurabi is not your typical love story, although there is some spark between the two main leads but the real drama is shown when they team up and help each other out! It really goes to show you that friendship is key in any relationship!

4. The Right Touch:

When it came to genre of this drama you can’t really categorize as a classical legal drama or even a romcom. This drama had it all, the right touch of humor and suspense to complement the different elements of each character. Ba Im Reun’s best friend and fellow judge, judge Jung really made people laugh with his fun persona and outlook on life. But, don’t cast him away as just another funny character, he really showed his power and helped his friend in every struggling moment.

5. The OST:

Can we just take a moment to appreciate this masterpiece! The song “U-mb5 ft Hodge – Someday Somehow” was the right touch to every situation in the drama, suggesting that things will “somehow” end up alright. It’s not often that a totally English song be played as one of the OST but this song really complemented the whole show and gave life to the meaning and messages portrayed. After all, if you aren’t singing along to the OST are you really watching the show?!

Lastly, I want to leave you with this line:

In the end, everyone lives the way they like. That’s life. –Miss Hammurabi
