Marvel Just Got Back the Rights to a Live-Action Taskmaster, and These 10 Actors Could Play Him
Taskmaster, one of the lesser known villains in the Marvel universe, has had the live-action rights returned to Marvel.
Taskmaster, one of the lesser known villains in the Marvel universe, has had the live-action rights returned to Marvel. One can only wonder what they're going to do with this character, but I know I want to see only the best play him. This character is a master of every form of fighting style and every weapon you could imagine, and you need only the best in the action biz to play a character like that. I'm going to suggest five actors who could play him in a movie and then five actors who could play him on TV or Netflix, considering we don't know where he'll pop up. I hope you enjoy!
In a movie:
1. Timothy Olyphant
Timothy Olyphant showed how well he can play an experienced assassin in Hitman, and I think if he brought that experience to Taskmaster he could be great for the character. If he could spice up his performance from that movie with a little bit more of an evil twist, then he would be perfect for this role.
2. Keanu Reeves
Keanu Reeves is perfect for this role, just look at John Wick and The Matrix. He's played a badass hitman who used any gun, knife, or other weapon he could find, as well as being well versed in hand-to-hand combat, and someone with mad martial arts skills and uses every gun imaginable. His track record is just too good to have him not play Taskmaster!
3. Daniel Craig
If Daniel Craig can do such a good job playing super-spy James Bond, then I'm sure he'll blow Taskmaster out of the water. James Bond is pretty much good at everything, and in turn, so is Taskmaster. I think that if Craig could pull off not being a hero and so suave, then he could make a menacing villain.
4. Andrew Lincoln
One of the things that Andrew Lincoln loves most about The Walking Dead is the fight scenes. It's about time for Andrew Lincoln to become somewhat of an action star, and since it seems like Rick Grimes is good at everything, so why not Taskmaster? He can act pretty much anything, and I would love for him to bring such skill to an action role such as this.
5. Zachary Quinto
Many people don't see Zachary Quinto as anything more but Mr. Spock and the villain in literally everything else, but after watching Hitman: Agent 47, I think that he has a lot of potential as an action star. Quinto of course is used to playing the villain, but this time he played a villain that had identical skills as Agent 47, and I think he could do that again in the form of Taskmaster.
In a TV show or Netflix series:
1. Chris O'Donnell
Chances are you probably know Chris O'Donnell best from him being Robin in Batman Forever and Batman & Robin, but ever since then he's blossomed into more of a TV action star. He's been on NCIS: Los Angeles for six years now, and he's proved time and time again on that show alone that he has what it takes to be a totally awesome action star. I think that if we saw Taskmaster go up against our friends on Agents of SHIELD, that O'Donnell would be perfect for the job.
2. Jim Caviezel
If you've seen any episode of Person of Interest, then you know that Caviezel is perfect for this role. He's handled himself in any and every situation on that show, and I think that he could bring that to Taskmaster, either on Netflix or on TV. He has played villains plenty of times before, and I think that he's all-around great for this role.
3. Manu Bennett
Yes, I'm aware that Manu Bennett is apart of the DC alum by playing Deathstroke in Arrow, but I think it's safe to say that he's done playing that role. Besides that, he showed just how absolutely perfect he is for Taskmaster by playing Deathstroke, and I'd love to see him play practically the same character again but as Taskmaster.
4. Jeffrey Donovan
Jeffrey Donovan has taught us all how to be spies on Burn Notice, and I think that taught him how to play Taskmaster. His character knows everything about anything, and I think that's an important quality to have in Taskmaster. If he could bring the kind of character he played in Burn Notice to Taskmaster, then he could be a truly menacing villain.
5. Alex O'Loughlin
Alex O'Loughlin is probably best known for being the main character in Hawaii Five-0, but I think that he does have potential for playing a villain. He certainly has the aspects of Taskmaster down, so if he could just be a convincing villain, then he would be perfect for the character.
