Little Fires Everywhere

Where do I begin, honestly if you haven’t watched this you definitely should. Right off the back I have to applaud “Kerry Washington” and “Reese Witherspoon”, for doing an amazing job. Also the other actors did an amazing job also we are going to get to those characters.

I’m not going to review everything by episodes , I’m just going to highlight some moments that stood out to me.

Pearl Warren & Izzy Richardson

Can we just highlight the message between the different relationships each of these girls had with their moms. Also how the girls viewed each other’s moms. Pearl Warren was Mia Warren daughter in this show , and Izzy Richardson was Elena Richardson daughter. Now as we got through each episode we saw the treatment each girl received from their families, ecpecially by their mothers.

Mia Warren came off very protective over Pearl. She didn’t like her to go out much. Their bond at the beginning was strong and it showed us how they always been together , just the two. I noticed as Pearl started getting comfortable and making friends with the Richardson family, she started changing and realizing the things she wanted.

Pearl viewed Elena as a good mother who work hard and enjoyed her kids. This connection really reminded me of how when you meet your friend mom and she had this persona going on , like she’s super nice it’s unreal . Most kids do gravitate to liking their friends parents more then their own .

Now Izzy relationship with her mother was the total opposite of Pearl and her mom. As we got deep into the end of the show we saw how Izzy was a burden to Elena .

Elena was young and just getting started with her career. On top of that she already had 3 children already. Elena was disappointed with the news of being pregnant with her 4th child.

I want to reflect on a scene where Elena was at home watching the kids while her husband was out working and you could see how aggravated Elena was. She literally had a breakdown and when she had time to escape she met up with her college boyfriend. Which to me was very odd , ecspecially because she had an entire family at home .

Pretty much that scene showed us how she obviously didn’t want Izzy. By the way Izzy was one of my favorite characters in the show , I loved her personality. Izzy was true to herself and didn’t lower her standards to please anyone not even her mother.

There were scenes that touched our hearts and made us hurt for Izzy. A scene that touched me was when Elena cut Izzy out of the pictures and threw them in the trash . The way Izzy face looked was very sad when she saw her picture in the trash, she felt disowned by her mother. Izzy viewed Mia as a good mother figure, she liked how Mia wasn’t perfect.

Bebe Chow

I believe the writer included this character to show how mothers can make mistakes and also how mothers will do anything to protect their kids. As we saw Bebe Chow was not stable to take care of her daughter. Reflecting on a scene where Bebe Chow was in a cold apartment and couldn’t stop her baby from crying. Then we see a scene where Bebe drops her baby off in front of a fire station.

What really stood out to me was that she took the baby to a fire station , I don’t think she dropped her baby off there because it was convenient and the closest location. She knew that the baby will be safe and protected. I do think Bebe had the intention of finding her baby again one day .

Linda McCullough

The plot twists were everywhere in this show . I feel Linda McCullough was included in this story to shine a light on the mothers who cannot produce children. Which this is a common thing many women deal with all over the world.

The disappointment of wanting to produce children of your own but can’t. We saw that Linda seeked another option , of adopting.

The baby so happened to be no one other than Bebe Chows daughter. Lets reflect on a scene where Elena threw a birthday party for Linda’s baby. And in the middle of the party Bebe shows up and she’s very agressive demanding to get her baby.

Following that incident Bebe lawyer up and wanted to take things to court to try and get custody again. Linda was devastated at the whole idea and even thought Elena set her up . I want to hightlight moments where they showed Linda’s jealousy towards Elena. There was a scene where they were all young at a dinner table and I believe Linda shared news that she was expecting or trying to make a baby . Then Elena choked up her food and ran to the bathroom, I think her husband asked was she pregnant too. When Elena and her husband walked away Linda made a face and drunk Elenas wine .

Okay back to Bebe , the court case ended up going in Linda’s favor , she remained with custody of the baby. This decision triggered Bebe to take things in her own hands . The last episode they showed a scene where Linda was in bed and she heard the baby crying , she wanted to go check on her but her husband told her she was fine and to lay back down . Linda did so and after a while when she didn’t hear her baby crying anymore , she decided to go check .

Sadly when she did her baby was gone . Then we saw a scene where Bebe had her baby in a car holding her. The director and writer definitely left us with suspense .

The Fire

There’s so much I can talk about in this series. But I just touched bases on a few situations , I’m definitely going to write a part 2 to explain more things about this show.

Let’s get into one of the major plot twists this show had to offer . This was a scene in the last episode. Reflecting to that scene , Izzy wakes up and sees Mia and pearl leaving . She gets very upset and try’s to start a fire in her bedroom but her Siblings stopped her. Immediately Izzy confronts her mother about the situation when she enters the room.

This scene really made me hurt more for Izzy when words were exchanged. Actually hearing Elena saying “ she never wanted Izzy” , was disgusting to hear a mother say to their child . The way the other children reacted was even more sad , they couldn’t believe their mother eiether . Izzy storms away and packed bags to leave.

A scene that I loved was when Lexie Richardson shared her feelings to her mom , stated how she wasn’t perfect , and not the girl Elena wanted her to be. But can we also talk about the way Elena yelled to her “ you are perfect “, come on Elena really .

Everyone went to there rooms and the three older siblings gather in a group again and made eye contact and all decided to burn there rooms up. This scene had so much value and meaning behind it . Showing that everyone was trapped in their own little fires , such as problems going on in their lives . Elena really thought the world evolved around her , and everyone else didn’t have things going on too.

I think the fire made Elena see a bigger picture of things , ecspecially when she took the blame for the fire . I believe she knew her children set the fire. I honestly think this could use a second season , we need more.

Little Fires Everywhere was a great show , and I binge watched it . I highly recommend you to go watch this if you haven’t, to see more details I was trying to explain.
