Days of Our Lives will shut down production

Days of Our Lives has been on the air since November 1965 and is a beloved daytime series. Fans did not agree with but have been adjusting to the soap opera going from NBC to Peacock and now are dealing with another disturbing issue. The series will shut down production for one week but before we get to that let's look at what got us here.

Viewers are wondering why the co-executive producer Albert Alarr has been allowed to reign in terror and why allegations are just now coming to light. Thus far only one former cast member Lisa Rinna (Billie Reed) has made a public statement collaborating that Days has a toxic environment. Viewers are wondering when others will speak out in truth as Rinna has. it's understandable that no one wants to jeopardize their job but most of those who watch the long-running series say this is no time to keep silent.

The Young and the Restless dealt with a similar issue

This mirrors The Young and the Restless around 2018 when viewers coined the phrase Mal Young's reign of terror. It was during Young's tenure that allegations of female cast beign harassed came to light and 3 popular actors left the series. Eileen Davidson (Ashley Abbott) said it was time for her to move on and do other things, Christel Khalil went on recurring status but was rarely seen and Mishael Morgan bid goodbye to Y&R but all 3 later returned once Young was fired. Now on Days of Our Lives, it is being suggested that Lindsay Arnold (Allie Horton) left the series because of Alarr and Rinna shared the following.

“Well, this took a long time. Let’s see when’s the last time I went over there and did that week on Peacock I couldn’t believe the work environment. It was disgusting, I was shocked. I let many people know, Albert included, and they didn’t do a thing until now, it seems.”

Will more Days actors with allegations come forth?

Peter Reckell (Bo Brady) and Arianne Zucker (Nicole Walker) both gave vague statements to appease the fans but Rinna is the only person to actually say how bad things are on the DOOL set. Rinna returned in 2021 for 5 episodes of the first installment of Days of Our Lives: Beyond Salem and Reckell and Kristian Alfonso reprised their roles as Bo and Hope Brady this past summer. Alfonso has not commented on thsi situation but some fans wonder if this is why she initially vowed never to return to DOOL.

Days of Our Lives loyal viewers are also wondering why Executive producer Ken Corday whose parents Ted and Betty Corday created the NBC series now on Peacock has remained silent. Rinna complained 2 years ago and nothing has been done until now. Fans are saying Allar should lose his job instead of being sent to classes which amounts to a slap on the wrist.

Days of Our Lives goes black

It is also being reported that Peacock has shut down production of Days of Our Lives for one week in the midst of the allegations but no reason has been given for the blackout. DOOL has weathered many storms including not knowing if they were going to be renewed on NBC. Be on the lookout for updates, spoiler alerts, and breaking news related to thsi developing story as well as the fate of Albert Alarrs. Hopefully. Lisa Rinna's courage will inspire other cast members to come forth and expose any abusive behavior that has been going on behind the scenes.
