LEGO She-Hulk Minifigure Comparison

A LEGO Minifigure Comparison

By GeekdomPublished 2 months ago • 4 min read

In 2023 LEGO created the second Jennifer Walters She-Hulk minifigure for the LEGO Marvel Studios CMF Series 2. Before this the only She-Hulk minifigure came from the 2017 Hulk vs Red Hulk set number 76078. That building set also included a Red She-Hulk minifigure. However since Red She-Hulk’s alter ego is Betty Ross and a completely different character, we will only be comparing the green Jennifer Walter She-Hulk Minifigures.

LEGO She-Hulk Minifigure Jennifer Walters Inspiration for design

While both of these minifigures are based on the Jennifer Walters character, they draw their inspiration from different source material. The original 2017 minifigure is based on She-Hulk from the Marvel Comics storylines that take place on Earth-616. The newer CMF is modeled after Tatiana Gabriele Maslany’s live action portrayal in the MCU Disney+ series She-Hulk: Attorney at Law.

Hair

We will start our comparison from the top and work our way down, because the dark green, female, mid-length wavy hair is the exact same piece. LEGO may not have gotten creative with this piece, but She-Hulk is the only character to be wearing this hairdo in a dark green color. Luckily, this is the only piece they have in common.

Head

LEGO She-Hulk Minifigure Faces

LEGO stuck with the lime colored minifigure head piece but drastically changed the facial expressions. With a total of four face printings, LEGO Marvel Super Hero fans have a lot to work with when it comes to She-Hulk emotions. The CMF character was given two happy expressions. The large toothy smile has a small dark green dimple on her left side. The medium nougat lipstick can be seen on the top and bottom of the smile. LEGO has perfected those long feminine eyelashes. The other side has a closed smirk and her right eyebrow is slightly raised. The She-Hulk minifigure found in the building set has two drastically different emotions and more dramatic poses. This minifigure also has a small confident smirk, but that right eyebrow is raised much higher and and the left is sloping down. This definitely gives off a more confident vibe. Dark green was still used for the dimple, but her lips are also dark green. When looking at these two heads together, you will notice how the eyelashes have become more detailed at the ends. The second face printing on the 2017 minifigure was that of an angry She-Hulk. Her mouth is wide open as she bares all her teeth in pure rage. The eyebrows are sloped at a steep angle and a crease has formed between them to create a furrowed brow.

Costume

LEGO She-Hulk Minifigure Costume Printing

The biggest difference between these two minifigures is their costumes. As to be expected, the CMF series has far more detail in its printing than the older version that came in the standard building set. Not only is more time put into the printing, but the source material gave LEGO more material to work with…literally. The MCU has to bring these colorful costumes from the fantasy land of comics to the more grounded live action world. Disney kept the purple color scheme but managed to make it look more like an elaborate, spandex suit. There are different sections of material that are sewn together to create a more complex color and texture patterns. The comics basically put her in a white and purple swimsuit. Even with that limitation, LEGO still made the comic book costume have more texture and depth than the comics often managed. Except for her sneakers. While the CMF managed to put straps on the sides and separate the thicker souls from the rest of the shoes, the first minifigure just had white feet.

Accessories

As part of the Marvel Studios CMF series, She-Hulk came with a cell phone and a case file. These two printed tile pieces did a wonderful job of connecting Jennifer Walters with the Disney+ TV show the character was based on. Wong calling her on the phone, while she holds Emily Blonsky’s case file, are directly related to the storyline and let us know about other characters in the show. The 2017 set had She-Hulk driving a large 4-wheeled vehicle. The vehicle was designed to smash into the Red Hulk’s car or shoot it with stud shooters. The.. Hulk-Mobile???, has nothing to do with the comic book character. It just gave kids a toy to play with.

My Favorite

Angry She-Hulk

In my opinion the CMF She-Hulk has superior printing detail on all the pieces. However, because this is my opinion, I like the original 2017 She-Hulk minifigure more. For me, I usually lean toward more comic book accurate costumes. In addition to this preference, the clothes she is wearing was the design being used when I was deeply into comic book collecting. The main reason for my choice is that the CMF character lacked an angry expression. For me, an angry expression is a must for our Savage She-Hulk or any Hulk character. Now, these are my opinions and I want to hear yours. Use the poll to share which is your favorite She-Hulk Minifigure. Which is your favorite?
