Now more than ever people need laughter in their lives. Surrounded by fear, negativity, COVID-19 news all over the place, they need hope and something to laugh about. And why not laugh at what is actually happening right now?

I have always loved laughter and comedy. Even though I didn’t grow up to be a comedian but a journalist who interviews them I still love to make people laugh. I try to find the amusing in this awful situation as I am forced to be inside because of quarantine, locked between four walls and forced to homeschool my daughter. So I had to find hope and laughter in something else and I did in two of my favorite shows - The Office and SNL Home Edition.

Even before COVID-19, I found hope and something to laugh at thanks to SNL. In my most crucial and saddest moments in life, whether while I was experiencing anger, grief, loss or what have you, I had one steady place to escape - SNL. Now, I need SNL more than ever. I watch the funny videos that make fun of a serious situation, and I love them all. Even COVID-19 could not stop these awesome comedians from bringing joy into my home.

If you haven’t seen their latest Home Edition comedy videos I absolutely recommend you do. It will make you laugh and forget about any fear, sadness or concern you have, at least for a little bit. After all, laughter is the best medicine!

While I have been binge watching six seasons of The Office on Netflix at night trying to relive pre-COVD-19 times with the episodes, remembering what used to be a fun office working environment, I lost myself in laughter, joy and memories. But it wasn’t enough...I needed more! I needed SNL’s unique humor to lift me up even more!

So today, as I was scrolling down my Instagram feed in hopes to distract myself, I stumbled upon SNL’s Instagram account and I couldn’t stop laughing at one of their videos. I wanted and needed to see more so I went on SNL’s YouTube account and I watched laughing out loud as if for the first time in months.

I was truly amazed by the actors who have not lost their awesome sense of humor even locked inside; quite the opposite - they made some of the best and creative home videos I have seen them do, such as the home workout video, the reporter video, What Up With That? classic, and many more. My favorite video by far is the one of the reporter with the silly filters. As a reporter myself I could not only relate to it but enormously enjoyed the humor in it. I hope you will too!

As a reporter, I can’t take myself or the world too seriously all the time. As a fan of comedy, I also appreciate any humor in my profession and I am glad SNL had a video about it. They also created a hilarious song about being quarantined inside that couldn't reflect more our current state of living.

I can’t stop COVID-19 from existing, nor can I escape quarantine, but I can choose to laugh and I choose to laugh with SNL. I hope you will too and eventually it will be your smile that will open doors and light the darkness in today’s world.

Isn’t that amazing how we all become one when we help one another in laughter as well? COVID-19 might have led to social distancing but couldn't take our sense of humor and ability to connect online.

I love you all!
