My top 3 series for a good mood

There is no better time to look for some great TV shows to fulfil our daily routine with laughter and bright colours. We have got plenty of free time now because no one is in a hurry. Not everyone has work to be done by Monday morning, no planned business trips or holidays on the horizon. Our life has become virtual; this is our new reality. Parties with friends, our study and work now have to be done through zoom meetings.

Everything happens inside of our houses, which are the only trip destination we can visit right now. Our screen time increased, but no one is to blame. We all watch more TV, play more video games, listen to more music these days (or should I say months). It's a guilt-free pleasure, and we need to enjoy it. It will not last forever.

I didn't have enough time to scroll through TV shows that appeared because I have to take care of my three little brothers. However, I did everything else that quarantine required of me: ate my immense amount of snacks between my meals; tried lots of exercises from different bloggers; did some spring cleaning(2, 3 times or maybe even more); watched TikTok more than I perhaps should have; learnt how to bake sourdough bread; also read all Harry Potter books (again).

Of course, watching movies was on my list too, couldn't avoid it because I'm a true cinematography lover. Every evening now feels like a Sunday! Because of the wine, popcorn and some good screen time.

As it is hard to find a good TV series that will please and make feel it was worth time. I decided not to complicate myself and watch something that I have already seen and enjoyed very much. Something hilarious, adventurous and thrilling.

My top 3 TV shows are old but gold title which appeared much before my time, Mr Bean; the new and spicy Why Women Kill; the rebellious tale of young adults from South-East London, Misfits.

Three TV shows you must watch

1. Quirky and child-like MR BEAN

A genuinely brilliant mini-series made and developed by one and only Rowan Atkinson (the funniest British guy) while he was at university.

The show concentrates around one character, Mr Bean, a lovably and mischievous adult who has trouble with even the simplest of tasks in day-to-day life, but his perseverance and optimism help to find ingenious and exciting ways around problems. From getting his head stuck in a turkey while cooking Christmas dinner, to accidentally returning a baby to its mother by tying balloons to its pram and watching it fly away, Mr Bean lives his life unaware of his ability to turn everyday trials into laughable moments, one disaster at a time. He's in this world but not from this world.

inseparable

Everybody should watch it, first because there are so many things to learn from Mr Bean, from his great dancing moves to his driving skills, second is the teddy bear he always carries around (his best friend).

And the most important is that Mr Bean teaches us all to enjoy our life.

2. Memorable drama you don't want to miss! Why Women Kill

Marc Cherry is a true master when it comes to creating compelling, complicated female characters. Cherry worked as a writer on The Golden Girls before creating Desperate Housewives and Devious Maids. Desperate Housewives (one of my favourites shows ever) ran for eight seasons, winning three Golden Globe awards for Best Television Series, Comedy or Musical. If you like Desperate Housewives as I do, you'll love his latest creation, Why Women Kill.

It's a story about three women with their life problems and love affairs living in the same Pasadena mansion but in different decades (60's, 80's, modern days in 2019).

Characters are so charming that you fell for them and can't wait to see what happens next. Beth Ann (Ginnifer Goodwin) is the perfect 60's housewife who never dares say anything about her feelings; Simone (Lucy Liu) is an over-the-top diva socialite who owns an art gallery, lives her lush life with her 3rd husband; Taylor (Kirby Howell-Baptiste) is a modern-day feminist lawyer with an open marriage. All the characters are showing us how was and still is it to be a woman; you must think like a man; act like a lady; look like a young girl, and work like a horse.

The plot didn't beat around the bush and was like a knife thrusting right into the heart of the dark and devious side. Satire on love and lust, makes us think about humanity and the value that it claims to represent both within our society, past and present. The show is very aesthetic, elegant and funny.

The world has changed so much from what it was 20, 30, 50 years ago, but some things stay the same; love; friendship; revenge.

Two sides of the coin

3.The original concept with a fantastic cast: MISFITS

So many times I went scrolling through streaming websites, spotted Misfits but passed over it because of thought: here we go just another second series.

A few weeks after, my cousin sent me the link to it. She said, "you have to watch this, you're going to love it! It's funny and crazy, all in one. Just watch it and let me know what you think"

I watched the first five or more episodes the same day and HELL YES! She was right.

It's a story about five young lawbreakers doing community service programme, where they get struck by lightning and start to develop superpowers. It's a thoroughly enjoyable show, very well created, in good hands of the strong cast. Simon (Iwan Rheon) can become invisible; Curtis (Nathan Stewart-Jarrett) can rewind time; Kelly (Lauren Socha) can hear your thoughts; and Alisha (Antonia Thomas) causes anyone who touches her to go wild with sexual desire, a superpower unlikely to be in most superhero handbook. And Nathan (Robert Sheehan, actor chameleon) who needs more time to understand his powers, he comes across as a monumental jerk from the get-go.

All they have in common is a crime they must cover. But nothing comes easy, especially when you have secret weird powers and community work to do.

Please don't put too much sense in it; there's simply none. This show is hilarious, high quality, old-fashioned British entertainment. It is full of witty dialogue and characters that ensures you are laughing hard.

Now, after I rewatched all five seasons and had a good laugh, I have a question: Why isn't everyone watching Misfits?

The beginning...

These are my top three TV shows that I have most enjoyed binge-watching back in the days and now. I highly recommend you to watch them with a tasty snack or drink. You'll laugh, cry, be surprised, annoyed and sure you'll want the shows never to end.

P.S If they don't find them to be a good fit for your taste or perhaps you have already seen them. I'll leave a list below of some my other favourite shows:

1. The office ( Either the original British version or the US version).

2. Dracula 2013-2014

3. True Blood

4. Friday night dinner

5. The little drummer girl

6. Shameless

THE END.
