Konosuba is a japanese light novel series. The name of the series is "KonoSuba: God's Blessing on this Wonderful World!". Natsume Akatsuki wrote this light novel. The novel series follows Kazuma Satou, a boy who gets teleported to a new world. This world is mainly based on massively multiplayer online role-playing games (MMORPG). It's more like an Isekai anime. He gets teleported after his death as a reincarnation. Soon after his reincarnation, he meets a goddess, archwizard & a crusader and forms a dysfunctional party.

This anime aka light novel has comedy, adventure & romance. But the main thing of this anime is comedy. Still you won't be laughing at every joke but you will love to watch the show. So it's kind of a weird expression you will have. You may wonder what's the history of the creation of the show. Let's start with the Light Novel Series.

Novel & Light Novel History

The original novel series was released on the internet first. The novel first appeared on Shōsetsuka ni Narō website. It's a user generated novel publishing website. The novel releases took place between December, 2012 and October, 2013.

Soon after the novel got popular, Kadokawa Shoten decided to print it's light novel version. It started in October 2013 and ended in May 2020. That's why the web novel releases stopped after the one month after the printing light novel. The light novel series has a more accurate story with very few plot holes as it was under Kadokawa Sneaker Bunko Imprint. It has a total of 17 volumes. Yen Press also licensed it to publish it in North American countries after seeing the popularity in Japan.

Later in 2014, there was an exclusive light novel version named "KonoSuba: An Explosion on this Wonderful World!". This novel moreover was a spin-off version of the original light novel. It was released on 1st July, 2014 and ran till 1st June 2014. It has a total of 3 volumes.

Manga History

The manga has almost similar history. The writer and the illustrator are the same as the novel. The manga started releasing after 1 years of successful novel release. The manga first appeared on 9th September 2014 and it is still ongoing whereas the novel ended in 2020. The manga has a total of 13 volumes. Yet there are more to come. The manga comes once in every month. The manga follows the exact same story of the anime so there should be no problem grasping it for novel readers.

Anime History

After 3 years of manga and light novel releases, Konosuba story finally steps into the anime world. Studio Deen produced anime. Takaomi Kanasaki directed this and Makoto Uezu wrote this. The first episode was aired on 14th June, 2016 and it ended on 16th March, 2017. The anime has two seasons, one OVA per season and one movie. Konosuba Season 1 english sub and dub is available. Not only that, Konosuba Season 2 english sub and dub is also available. Even the movie has english dubbed version also.

The anime also follows the same story as the novel and manga. As you all know, manga and light novels have no limitations. When it comes to anime, you may notice a little off as the anime can't cover all points from manga or light novels. It's the case with every anime though.

Final Words

More or less this is the whole story of Konosuba anime. You roughly see any web novel to take place in anime or manga. This is one of the exceptions. Anyway it's all in brief. You can find more details about the anime on Wikipedia.
