DC Comics is launching an online streaming service in order to air their own exclusive content, and they have recently announced that a live-action Swamp Thing show will be a part of the line-up. Swamp Thing is one of the most popular characters in DC Comics lore, yet the role hasn't been executed correctly. I feel that I know a few actors who could not only be a good Swamp Thing, but a good Alec Holland as well, and I hope you agree with my list.

1. Tom Welling

While Tom Welling doesn't have the signature blonde hair of Alec Holland, one thing is certain; DC fans love him. According to a lot of people he was the best actor to ever play Superman, and he has continued to work with the company on the sadly cancelled Fox show Lucifer. Not only is Welling a huge, muscular man, but he also has the deep and gritty voice you would expect from Swamp Thing, and I think this could be a logical move for him after tragically being out of a job.

2. Kellan Lutz

via Cosmic Book News

Kellan Lutz is quite possibly the best choice for Swamp Thing. Not only does he have an enormous build that could help bring the character to life, but he has Alec Holland's signature blonde hair, and enough range to play both alter egos. Lutz has had enough action-heavy roles to not only be able to perform stunts in a motion capture suit, but also to develop a gritty action star voice, and that could be useful in a role like this.

3. Alan Tudyk

via Hollywood Reporter

You probably know Alan Tudyk best as the comic relief in just about everything, but what you may not know is how diverse of a voice actor he is. Tudyk has truly mastered the art of changing his voice to suit any character, and I believe that he could pull off the deep and gritty voice of Swamp Thing better than anyone else. He has the look to play Alec Holland in the scenes from before he becomes Swamp Thing, and with the magic of motion capture technology, he could bring the character to life perfectly.

4. Lucas Till

via ONTVtoday

Lucas Till is quickly becoming one of TV's biggest stars with his hit show MacGyver, and there's no doubt that DC Comics would want this young talent to join one of their projects. Casting Till as Swamp Thing would put a lot of eyes on the whole streaming service in general. It's just a question of if he would take the role. Whether or not this is something that makes sense for him at this point in his career, I feel that he has the perfect voice for the character, and I would love to see him get a second chance to play a superhero after X-Men: Apocalypse.

5. Jake Abel

via YouTube

Jake Abel used to be huge among young adults around 2010, having been in both Supernatural and Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief, but we haven't seen much of him since then. Taking a role as a popular superhero on a brand new streaming service could be exactly what Abel needs to give his career a little nudge, and Swamp Thing is as good of a fit as any other character. Abel is used to playing villains and darker characters, meaning he's developed a gritty voice he can use for Swamp Thing, and could undoubtedly perform as well as anyone else in the role.

6. Ian Ziering

via Gazette Review

I'll be the first one to admit that this is a little far fetched, but just hear me out. Obviously we all know Ian Ziering from the widely popular and utterly terrible Sharknado movies, but that doesn't mean he can't be a serious actor as well. Ziering is a true Hollywood veteran, and if given the chance, I think he would make a particularly good Swamp Thing. He's a physically imposing man, he has the look for Swamp Thing's alter ego and has done enough voice work to adopt a deep and powerful voice, so why not give him the part?

7. Simon Baker

via Huffington Post

When it comes to smart blonde men on TV, does it get any better than Simon Baker? His role on The Mentalist has proven that he's absolutely cut out to play a scientist, and he has the look for Alec Holland to a tee. If he could create a deep enough voice to use for the character, then I think he would be the perfect choice for the role.

8. Josh Holloway

via USA Network

Let's face it, if you watch TV, you know who Josh Holloway is. Not only has he managed to stay relevant with the widely popular series Colony, but everyone still remembers his role as Sawyer on Lost as well. Holloway is a veteran actor that would be an excellent addition to Swamp Thing, and he is the ideal actor to cast in the role.

9. Troy Baker

via AskMen

Chances are you've never seen Troy Baker before, but I can almost guarantee that you've heard him. I'll spare you the entire list of voice performances he has to his credit, but just know that Baker has voiced both Batman and The Joker several times, as well as doing the voice and motion capture for Joel in The Last of Us. It would make sense to use a voice actor that is familiar with motion capture for Swamp Thing, and although he hasn't had many live action performances, I'm positive that Troy Baker could hold his own as the cursed scientist.

10. Travis Fimmel

via history.co.uk

Travis Fimmel may not seem like the best actor to cast as a scientist, but how intense would he be as Swamp Thing? Just imagine hearing Ragnar Lothbrok's voice come out of a giant green monster, and tell me you don't get goosebumps. Fimmel is a huge man that could easily perform in a motion capture suit, and while he's never played a scientist before, I think he has the range to pull it off.

What do you think? Who should play Swamp Thing?
