The first attempts to develop the Kannada cinema were done by H. L. N. Simha who managed to make a silent film with a single camera and imported projectors from Germany in 1934. Below are some of the blogs about movies and videos resolution:

The first talkie in Kannada was Sati Sulochana released in 1934 directed by Y. V. Rao, B. R. Panthulu and S. Soundar Rajan which was produced by Chamanlal Doongaji using a single-camera system and imported German equipment. It was shown at Majestic Theatre, Bangalore on 25 March 1935.

The first colour film in Kannada, Goadalli CID 999 (1969), was produced by Bheemavarapu Narayana Rao under his Bharani Pictures banner. In 1971, Ganesha Pictures released Naagarahaavu with Dr Rajkumar as the lead role which became a super hit of that time.

When Did Kannada Movies Start

Kannada Cinema is one of the oldest film industries in India. With the first film, Sati Sulochana, being made in 1934 by Y. V. Rao and Gubbi Veeranna, the Kannada film industry has been around for almost a century.

Kannada cinema has produced some amazing movies over the years. The first Kannada movie ever made was in 1934 and it was titled Sati Sulochana.

This movie was directed by Y.V Rao and Gubbi Veeranna and it was based on a novel written by Shivaram Karanth named Chomana Dudi which was published in 1929.

The movie had to be shot in Bombay because there were no film sets available in Bangalore at that time. The actors were from Mysore Amateur Dramatic Company who were members of Gubbi Veeranna’s theatre troupe.

The movie was originally shot on 16mm film which got ruined after it caught fire at a studio in Bombay, but later it was re-shot on 35mm film stock and released on December 1st, 1934 under Sree Saraswathi Films banner.

When Did Kannada Start Making Color Movies

The first Kannada-language film to be made in colour, Goadalli CID 999, was released in 1969. It was directed by T. R. Sundaram of Modern Theatres.

Sampath (1963) was the first Kannada film to be shot in colour.

Navakoti Narayana (1964), a mythological film, was the first Kannada film to be processed in colour.

The first Kannada-language film to use Eastmancolor and CinemaScope, Bhootayyana Maga Ayyu (1974), was directed by Siddalingaiah.

Nagarahavu (1972) used Eastmancolor and Panavision 70 mm cameras. The first Kannada-language film with Dolby Stereo sound was Sankalpa (1989).

How Kannada Movies are Made

The Kannada film industry is the fifth largest film industry in India. However, the industry has not received enough recognition from the Government of Karnataka. In spite of a lot of effort from some artists, directors and producers, the Government has not yet supported them.

Bangalore is the hub where many new filmmakers get together to launch a new project. There are about 200-300 films made every year in Kannada. They are either dubbed or remade from other languages like Telugu, Tamil, Hindi or Malayalam.

Casting director: The first step after penning down your script is to find the right cast and crew members. The casting director plays an important role in doing this. Casting directors usually send out auditions to prospective actors who they think will fit into the role and meet up with them to discuss their roles and characters.

Producer: The producer is usually one of the head people in charge of movie production and he/she takes care of everything that happens during pre-production, production and post-production.

He/she is responsible for getting the entire cast and crew together for shooting purposes as well as providing financial support for all expenses in making a movie including budgeting, scheduling, equipment costs and salaries for everyone involved.

How Kannada Movies Make Money

As the film industry evolves, so do its mechanisms of finance. To understand how money is made in a Kannada film, we must first learn how it is lost.

As with most industries, there are two sides to the Kannada film business: the creative, and the business side. While one comes up with ideas to make a film, the other assesses its commercial viability.

In most industries, however, these two sides are independent entities; they are separate from each other. For example, if Nike wishes to advertise itself on television or print media, it will hire an advertising agency to take care of the creative aspects of its campaign.

However, on the business side of things, it is Nike who decides what medium it would like to advertise on – television or print – as well as how much money should be spent on this campaign.

In Kannada cinema, however, both sides are merged into one: the producer. The producer decides what kind of stories he wants to make and invests his own money in making them (the creative aspects).

He also decides where he wants his films to be released (the business aspects). He has complete control over his product and that is essentially why he makes so much money.
