Can you feel the love tonight?

After last year's success with the live action version of The Jungle Book, director Jon Favreau is setting up for another live action Disney remake. Instead of going to the jungles of Africa, though, Favreau is hoping to shoot the sweeping dunes of the African desert for a live action version of The Lion King.

James Earl Jones, who voiced Mufasa in the original Disney classic, will be returning as the regal king of the pridelands, while Donald "Young Lando Calrissian" Glover is reported to be also joining the cast in the lead role of Simba.

Glover has had a stellar year; in addition to becoming a father with his as-yet unnamed girlfriend, he has been cast as Miles Morales in Ultimate Spider-Man, and has also garnered notice for his having been cast as young Lando Calrissian in the standalone Han Solo flick due out in 2018. In addition to all of that, he also had an outstanding album with Awaken, My Love, as Childish Gambino. He's also had one of the best-reviewed new shows of 2016 with Atlanta; it won two Golden Globe Awards: one for Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy and one for Best Actor – Television Series Musical or Comedy for Glover.

While it is not yet known exactly who else will be joining the cast for the live action version of The Lion King, the film will hopefully maintain the bouncy music, visual comedy and even the Shakespearean themes that the 1994 Disney version boasted. If Favreau's The Jungle Book is anything to go by, there will also be a host of big names joining the cast of The Lion King. The Jungle Book boasted such luminaries as Bill Murray (Balloo), Christopher Walken (King Louie) and Sir Ben Kingsley (Bagheera), so with James Earl Jones and Donald Glover already on board, it's almost a lock there will be other big names following suit.

With a sequel already being planned for the live action version of The Jungle Book and casting for The Lion King already well underway, it would appear that Favreau will have a busy time over the foreseeable future.
