Jayce is the Reason Why Viktor Became a Villain in Arcane
Jayce destroyed so many lives in Arcane.

Jayce is one of the central main characters in Arcane. He has dreams of mixing magic and science together to create Arcane, and just when he thinks his dreams are diminished by the Council in the Upper city, a man named Viktor offers to help his dream come true. Together, they create Hextech, that ends up helping out so many lives. They are able to have people teleport with the help of magic, and they are able to create new inventions as time goes on, but at some point, their inventions are opposed by several people.
Their inventions are starting to grow too dangerous for the public to consider using, but the duo is determined to make this work. Viktor is even more determined to help out the people in the Under city, where he is originally from. At some point, Jayce realizes that the Hextech is too dangerous, but Viktor refuses to back down. He wants to cure his sickness, that is threatening to unfortunately kill him at a young age. He uses the technology to help him survive, but he ends up accidentally killing a young woman who had a thing for him.
After this horrible death, Viktor makes the decision to also agree with Jayce, and his friend agrees that he must let his friend die, a choice that breaks his best friend. Later on, Viktor and Jayce decide to quit their technology for good, and make the decision to have the Under city become an independent environment, to avoid war at all costs. This instantly backfires on them, when Jinx, a heartbreaking villain that was created by evil, blows up the Council, where the duo was at the time.
Jayce is able to prevent his love interest, Mel, from getting hurt, but Viktor was caught in the crossfire. Jayce goes into a panic, and attempts to save his friend, and he ends up using the Hextech to cure him. Viktor and Jayce had both agreed prior that the technology must be destroyed, but Jayce's love for his friend forced him to save him instead. Viktor and Jayce then part ways after this realization, and they reunite a year later, and the two men have both completely changed.
Viktor is now using the technology to save lives, but Jayce ended up in another universe, witnessing the death and chaos that the Hextech had left behind. Jayce is forced to murder his best friend in season 2, but I don't think that is the end of their rivalry. The technolgy is way too powerful, so I think that they are going to end up meeting again, because somehow, Viktor is still alive.
Jayce is truly the reason why Viktor is now a villain in Arcane.
If it hadn't been for his ideas of wanting to bring Arcane to life again, Viktor and Jayce never would have met. They were two young men who were so excited to tackle such an invention, but like many young minds, they were unaware of what their creation was going to do later. They had no idea of the pain and death they were already causing in the Under city, after two sisters' lives were forever changed when they literally lost their entire family to the Hextech.
Jayce is now facing the heavy consequences of his actions, and I honestly struggle to feel bad for the guy. He should have known of what was going to happen later, and he had been constantly warned by an old professor of his, but he refused to listen. It also didn't help that once his best friend started dying, and this awful event led to the duo desperately searching for answers to save his life, and it ended in Viktor becoming a villain.
Arcane is truly a heartbreaking show, and it's a huge shame that Jayce Talis is the reason why everything goes to hell.
