Jason Quartermaine begins life amid scandal

Jason Morgan remains one of the most popular characters on the ABC soap General Hospital and his history has been complicated since birth. He was born on September 14, 1981, at Our Lady of Mercy Hospital in the Bronx, New York to Susan Moore (Gail Ramsey) who was having an affair with the very married Dr. Alan Quartermaine (Stuart Damon).

Alan and Dr. Monica Quartermaine's (Leslie Charleson) history is filled with drama as each cheats on the other often and both give as good as they get although they remain excellent doctors at GH. Alan and Monica have a bitter quarrel so he moves out of his home to live with Susan but later decides to work things out with his wife.

A vengeful Susan decides to sue the Quartermaines for millions of dollars and she is murdered, in February 1983, Monica does not hold this against the child and allows Alan to take Jason in and she eventually adopts him, loving him as her own. Jason is raised as a Quartermaine along with his half-brother, A. J. In 1986, Jason and A. J. are sent off to boarding school. (Wiki Fandom)

Jason's childhood and teen years were troubled

Jason initially lived with his mother and Scott Baldwin (Kin Shriner) until Susan died. Both Alan and Monica were among the suspects in the murder but police determined that Susan's accomplice a man named Crane had taken her life. Jason lived with Susan's aunt Alice Grant (Lieux Dressler) after her death and eventually moved into the Quartermaine mansion with Alan and Monica. and Jason and his brother A.J. were later sent away to boarding school.

The role of Jason Quartermaine was originated in 1982 by Quinn Carlson and Bryan Beck took over as Jason from 1983 to 1986. When the character was aged Steve Burton stepped into the role from 1991 until 2012. Jason's life changes drastically when he is riding in a vehicle with a drunken AJ who hits a tree and Jason is thrown out hitting his head on a boulder.

Goodbye Jason Quartermaine-Hello Jason Morgan

He has amnesia and when he regains his memory his personality has been altered. He begins to detest all things about the Q's and walks out of the Quartermaine world. He takes the maiden name Morgan from his grandmother Lila Quarteraine (Anna Lee) because she is not as cutthroat as the rest of the family including his grandfather Edward Quartermaine (John Ingle) and aunt Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot). He begins working for Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and Monica contiues to hold this against the mob boss/coffee emporter.

As Jason Morgan he begins working for mob boss Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and in tie becomes his enforcer. In 2014, the role was recast with Billy Miller, and upon Burton's return, in 2017 as Patient 6 Miller was recast as Jason's twin, Andrew Cain. As of this writing, Steve Burton is slated to return to General Hospital and some fans say they hope he comes back as Jason Quartermaine to set things right in the Q mansion.

Family ties that bind

Jason has a son Danny Morgan ( (Zacki Risinger) with Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco) and Jake Spencer (Hudson West) with Elizabeth Webber Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst). Both of these boys have practically grown up without their father and will probably have some daddy issues taking the Quartermaine drama into the 4th generation. Will Jason return to the Q mansion and possibly change his name back? Might he consider taking the family name back and perhaps changing Danny and Jake's last name to reflect the inheritance they will one day benefit from? Keep watching General Hospital to find out.
