Jarann Ending Explained: Is Ganguti’s Black Magic Real and Who Is Saie? (Spoilers)
The truth behind Radha’s daughter Saie, Shekhar’s “death,” the cursed Bhagabai doll, Ganguti’s black magic and Jarann’s psychological ending explained.

Spoiler Warning: This article contains major spoilers for Jarann, including the truth about Saie, Shekhar, Ganguti and the final twist.
Jarann begins like a supernatural horror story about black magic, an old curse and a disturbing doll. However, as the story reaches its climax, the film slowly transforms into a psychological mystery about grief, trauma, hallucinations and the dangerous power of belief.
The biggest revelation is that Radha’s reality is not what it initially appears to be.
Why Was Radha Afraid of Her Ancestral House?
Radha returns to her ancestral village home with her daughter Saie because her parents are planning to demolish the property and turn it into a heritage resort.
For the rest of the family, it is an emotional reunion. For Radha, however, returning to the house means confronting a terrifying memory from her childhood.
Years earlier, a woman named Ganguti lived there as a tenant. The villagers believed that Ganguti practiced black magic.
After being insulted and forced out of the house, Ganguti performed a frightening ritual and cursed young Radha. She declared that Radha would never experience peace in her life.
Soon afterward, Radha became seriously ill and started suffering from nightmares and unusual behaviour.
Radha’s mother became convinced that black magic was responsible, while her father trusted doctors and medical treatment.
This conflict between superstition and science becomes one of the main themes of Jarann.
What Is the Bhagabai Doll?
During the family gathering, Saie discovers an old doll.
Radha lovingly calls it Bhagabai, but Radha’s mother immediately becomes frightened because she connects the doll to Ganguti.
After the doll enters Radha’s life, increasingly strange incidents begin happening.
Saie claims that Bhagabai talks to her, plays with her and even tells her what to do.
The housemaid also becomes terrified of the doll because it appears to move from one place to another by itself.
Radha initially refuses to believe any supernatural explanation.
However, strange whispers, frightening reflections and disturbing events slowly make her question what is real.
Was Shekhar Really Dead?
One of the first major twists concerns Radha’s husband, Shekhar.
Throughout the early part of the movie, Radha regularly speaks to Shekhar on the phone and says that he has been living abroad because of work.
Her family knows something is wrong.
When Radha tries to speak to Shekhar again, her father takes the phone from her and discovers that nobody is actually on the other end.
Radha completely breaks down.
At first, the movie makes us believe that Shekhar died in the car accident and that Radha has been imagining conversations with him because she cannot accept his death.
But this turns out to be another illusion.
Shekhar is alive.
He never died in the accident.
Why Did Radha Believe Shekhar Was Dead?
After the accident, Radha suffered a severe psychological breakdown.
Her childhood trauma returned and her relationship with Shekhar became increasingly difficult.
Shekhar eventually became emotionally exhausted. During an argument, he told Radha that he no longer wanted her in his life.
He later left for London.
Unable to cope with being abandoned, Radha created another reality inside her mind.
Instead of accepting that Shekhar had left her, she mentally transformed his absence into death.
She then created an imaginary version of Shekhar with whom she continued talking.
But the truth about Shekhar is only one part of the movie’s biggest twist.
Who Is Saie in Jarann?
The biggest revelation in Jarann is the truth about Saie.
Radha and Shekhar never had a daughter named Saie.
At the time of the car accident, Radha was around three months pregnant.
The accident caused her to suffer a miscarriage.
She lost the baby she desperately wanted.
After the accident, a neighbouring family had a young daughter named Saie.
Saie was also the name Radha had imagined for her own future child.
Radha began watching the neighbour’s daughter from a distance and eventually created an imaginary version of Saie inside her mind.
From that point onward, Radha behaved as though Saie were her real daughter.
She spoke to her, prepared food for her, fixed her hair and imagined sending her to school.
The Saie we see with Radha throughout most of the movie does not actually exist.
Why Did Radha Create Saie?
Saie represents the family life Radha believed she should have had.
She wanted a loving husband, a daughter and a peaceful home.
After losing her unborn baby and later losing her relationship with Shekhar, both dreams disappeared.
Instead of accepting those losses, Radha’s mind created another reality.
In that imaginary world, Shekhar was still emotionally connected to her and Saie was alive as her daughter.
Her hallucinations therefore protected her from confronting unbearable grief.
What Happened Between Radha and Shekhar After the Accident?
Shekhar knew about Radha’s psychological problems from childhood and still chose to love and marry her.
But after the accident, her old trauma returned.
When Shekhar tried to convince Radha that Saie was not real, Radha became furious.
She blamed him for the miscarriage and accused him of killing their daughter.
In Radha’s mind, Shekhar became a threat to Saie.
She even believed that he might kill her daughter again.
Eventually, Shekhar could no longer handle the situation and left.
His departure pushed Radha even deeper into the imaginary world she had created.
Why Did Radha’s Condition Become Worse During Lockdown?
After Shekhar left, Radha’s parents stayed with her for some time.
Eventually, they returned home.
Soon afterward, the COVID-19 lockdown began.
Radha was suddenly isolated inside a large house with very little contact with the outside world.
The loneliness, silence, grief and unresolved childhood trauma made her psychological condition much worse.
Her imaginary world slowly became more real to her than actual reality.
Is Ganguti Really Haunting Radha?
During the climax, Radha begins seeing Ganguti.
Ganguti encourages Radha to attack the people trying to help her.
When Shekhar and Dr. Rashmi arrive, Radha cannot decide whether they are real or imaginary.
Ganguti tells Radha that Shekhar is already dead and that the man standing in front of her must therefore be a ghost.
Radha becomes completely confused.
She attacks Dr. Rashmi and Shekhar while Ganguti continues encouraging her.
Eventually, Shekhar manages to restrain Radha and Dr. Kulkarni gives her an injection to calm her.
Ganguti then disappears.
According to Dr. Kulkarni, Ganguti was not actually possessing Radha.
The supernatural experiences were connected to Radha’s trauma and psychological condition.
Was Ganguti’s Black Magic Real?
Dr. Kulkarni gives the movie’s scientific explanation.
Radha had always been extremely imaginative, even as a child.
Ganguti’s terrifying black-magic ritual created a deep childhood trauma inside her.
Radha’s mother interpreted her later symptoms as the result of Ganguti’s curse.
Radha’s father instead took her for medical treatment.
From the doctor’s perspective, there was never any supernatural curse.
Radha’s childhood condition improved because of treatment, and the later accident caused those old psychological problems to return.
However, Radha’s mother continues believing that religious rituals helped her daughter.
The movie therefore shows two completely different interpretations of the same events.
Why Did Radha Change Her Doctor?
Radha leaves her old psychiatrist, Dr. Kulkarni, and starts seeing Dr. Rashmi Pandit.
She claims that Dr. Kulkarni has known her since childhood and still treats her like a child.
However, the ending reveals a deeper reason.
Dr. Kulkarni knew Radha’s complete history.
He knew the truth about Shekhar, Saie and her previous psychological condition.
Dr. Rashmi did not.
Without realizing it, Dr. Rashmi initially accepted parts of Radha’s imaginary reality.
Radha therefore felt safer with her.
This is also why Radha gives Dr. Rashmi the wrong phone number when she asks for Dr. Kulkarni’s contact details.
Radha subconsciously knows that if the two doctors speak, her imaginary world could collapse.
Why Did the Bhagabai Doll Return?
Near the ending, Dr. Rashmi asks one final disturbing question.
Radha claimed that she had thrown Bhagabai outside the house.
So how did the doll return?
Dr. Kulkarni gives a simple explanation.
Perhaps Radha never actually threw it away.
Maybe she only imagined doing it.
There could be many ordinary explanations.
For him, there is no reason to immediately assume that something paranormal happened.
This moment represents exactly what Jarann is trying to say.
When people cannot explain something, fear can make a supernatural explanation seem more convincing than a logical one.
Jarann Ending Explained
By the end, Radha finally begins to understand how much pain her imaginary world is causing her.
Saie was never her daughter.
Shekhar was never dead.
Ganguti was not physically controlling her.
The perfect family Radha was desperately trying to protect existed mostly inside her mind.
She created Saie after losing her unborn child.
She mentally killed Shekhar after he left her.
And the frightening memory of Ganguti gave her mind a supernatural explanation for experiences she could not understand.
Radha eventually admits that she wants to recover because she can no longer tolerate living inside these painful illusions.
Her father reassures her that she can get better.
However, her mother still believes in rituals and supernatural protection, showing that the conflict between medical science and superstition has not completely disappeared.
What Does Jarann’s Ending Really Mean?
The ending of Jarann is ultimately about the power of belief.
Radha’s experiences feel completely real to her, but that does not mean everything she sees actually exists.
The movie shows how trauma, grief, loneliness and fear can completely change a person’s perception of reality.
At the same time, superstition can influence how families understand situations they cannot easily explain.
Dr. Kulkarni’s final message captures the central idea of the movie: people often believe in superstition first and then search for evidence that supports that belief instead of looking for a rational explanation.
That is what makes Jarann more than a simple black-magic horror movie.
Behind Ganguti, the creepy Bhagabai doll and the supernatural imagery is a tragic story about a woman who loses her unborn child, loses the relationship she depended on and creates an alternate reality because the truth is too painful to accept.
