Jackée Harry began her career on Another World
Jackée Harry currently portrays Paulina Price Carver on Peacock's Days of Our Lives. The actress is also known for portraying Sondra Clark on the NBC sitcom 227 and Lisa Landry on the ABC show Sister Sister which later aired on the WB. Her first television role was as Lily Mason on the NBC soap Another World.
Lily was not a long-time character or as well-known as Felcia Galant (Linda Dano), Twins Marley Love and Vicky Hudson (Anne Hecht), or Cass Elliott (Stephen Stnetzer), but she was memorable.
She came to Bay City after being tracked down by Quinn Harding (Petronia Pale), who wanted to adopt Lily's niece, Thomasina Todd (Sheila Spencer). Unlike Paulina who is the Salem mayor, Lisa who owned a fashion botique and Sondra who was a recptionist, weather girl and saleswoman Lily had a sordid past.
Lily had a hard knock life
The character initially was a lounge singer and prostitute/sex worker. She later became the owner and operator of The Brass Monkey, a popular Bay City nightclub where many front-burner storylines happened.
Lily was street smart and survived many difficult circumstances. Looking back through today's lens, some might say the character was stereotypical but Harry was praised for her work on the NBC soap.
Lily fulfilled her dream of leaving her past behind and worked diligently to create a better future for herself. As time moved on, she reinvented herself and became

Harry left Another World for 227
Harry was on the NBC soap from March 3, 1983, to June 25, 1986. She worked with several castmates who, like herself, later became famous. They include Morgan Freeman (Roy Bingham), Christine Baranski (Beverly Tucker), and Faith Ford (Julia Sheard).
Another World also had cast members who appeared before and after Harry, who became stars. These include Ray Liotta (Joey Perini), Brad Pitt ( a basketball player named Chris), Luke Perry (A man named Chris), and Lindsey Lohan (Alli Fowler).
When Jackée was hired for 227 in 1985, she simultaneously worked on both shows. She commuted for two years from New York, where AW was taped, to Los Angeles for the new series.
She did not expect 227 to become a hit, and when it did, Harry left Another World. The writers had Lily leave Bay City for new opportunities in California with Thomasina and her husband, Carter Todd (Russel Curry).
Another World History
Another World was created by Irna Phillips, who had her hand in many daytime dramas, including As the World Turns and Love is a Many Splendored Thing. Working along with her was William Bell, who created The Young and the Restless.
AW ran on NBC from May 4, 1964, to June 25, 1999. The popular soap was cancelled due to declining ratings and a network shakeup. Fans were heartbroken, but they have kept the soap alive through Facebook groups and other online forums where memories and pictures are shared.
Jackée Harry continues to shine
On Days of Our Lives, Harry has worked with her 227 co-star, Marla Gibbs (Mary Jenkins). There were rumors that Gibbs, as the star of the sitcom, did not appreciate the attention Harry's character was getting.
Whatever differences the women may have had seem to have been left in the past because Gibbs played Paulna's mother Olivia Price on DOOL. Both actresses recently praised Hal Williams, who died on June 15, and played Lester Jenkins on the sitcom.
