The Super Mario Bros. movie has taken the world by storm, breaking box-office records and becoming the highest-grossing video game movie of all time. But behind the scenes, rumors are swirling about Nintendo's involvement with the film, Sega's possible attempts to sabotage it, and even unexpected on-set drama. Here are the top rumors circulating about the making of the Super Mario Bros. movie.

Rumor #1: Mamma Mia That's A Spicy Actor

Chris Pratt had to undergo intensive training to perfect his voice acting for the role of Mario. He reportedly spent hours listening to recordings of Italian-Americans speaking English to perfect the accent and mannerisms of the famous plumber.

Rumor #2: Goofballs Will Be Goofballs

During filming, there were reports that Charlie Day, who voices Luigi, had a difficult time keeping a straight face during his scenes with Seth Rogen, who plays Donkey Kong. The two allegedly had a hilarious on-set rivalry that resulted in multiple retakes and blooper reels.

According to an anonymous source close to the production, the chemistry between Seth Rogen and Charlie Day was so intense during filming that their friendly rivalry spilled over onto the set. The two reportedly got into an argument about who could do the best impression of Bowser, with Rogen claiming that his deep, gravelly voice was perfect for the role, while Day insisted that his high-pitched, manic delivery was more in line with the character's mischievous personality. The argument allegedly escalated into a full-blown impersonation contest, with the rest of the cast and crew gathered around to judge the winner. Witnesses claim that Rogen and Day went back and forth for hours, each trying to outdo the other with increasingly ridiculous and exaggerated performances, until the director finally had to step in and call a halt to the proceedings.

Rumor #3: Rewrites, Rewrites, Rewrites

The filmmakers had to make multiple changes to the script during production, particularly with regards to Bowser's character. Originally written as a one-dimensional villain, the writers decided to add more depth and nuance to the character, resulting in a more sympathetic portrayal by actor Jack Black. This allowed the audience to appreciate musical numbers, as well as monetize Jack Black's musical abilities for their hit single "Peaches".

Rumor #4: The Princess Is In Another Castle, To Avoid Mario

There were reports of tension between Chris Pratt and Anya Taylor-Joy, who plays Princess Peach, during the film's press tour. Coming from a comedic background, Chris has a hard time not being constantly silly, and Pratt's constant ad-libbing during interviews caused the far more serious Taylor-Joy to become frustrated. The two even had to be separated during one particular interview, much to the shock of the interviewer.

Rumor #5: A Real Fanboy

Keegan-Michael Key, who voices Toad, revealed in an interview that he was a huge fan of the Super Mario Bros. video games growing up. He even admitted to owning a collection of rare Mario memorabilia, including a limited edition Mario-themed Nintendo Switch.

Rumor # 6: MushroomKingdomia

Fred Armisen, who voices Bowser Jr., reportedly had a hard time getting into character due to his love of poultry. Sources claim that he would often sneak pieces of chicken onto set and refused to eat anything else for lunch. The crew allegedly had to bring in a chicken costume for Armisen to wear during breaks to keep him in character.

Rumor #7: Keep Master Happy!

Nintendo was reportedly unhappy with the final cut of the Super Mario Bros. Movie and was considering pulling out of their partnership with Illumination and Universal, until is started raking in the cash. According to sources, executives at Nintendo were disappointed with the film's script and character designs, and felt that the filmmakers did not fully understand the Mario universe.

Rumor #8: Sonic The Jealoushog

In a shocking twist, it has been rumored that Sega, Nintendo's longtime rival, has been secretly sabotaging the Super Mario Bros. movie. Sources close to the production claim that Sega has been spreading negative rumors about the film and even attempting to disrupt filming in order to hurt the movie's box office performance.

Rumor #9: One of the Super Mario Bros. movie's most popular characters, Toad, was originally supposed to be voiced by a big-name celebrity. However, due to a scheduling conflict, the role ultimately went to an unknown actor. Despite this setback, the filmmakers were blown away by the unknown actor's performance and believe that they have discovered a major talent in the industry.

Can't believe all these rumors? Well, who knows, maybe they aren't true! In the topsy turvy world of entertainment, anything could be true, or fake!
