Zombieland Saga (MAPPA)

After a long day at work or a stressful week, it's nice to be able to shed that stress with a good laugh. I have found more comedic gold in anime than I have found in most of the American television shows I watch on a regular basis. So here we have it! These are my top picks for anime that will keep you laughing and keep you guessing.

'Asobi Asobase'

Asobi Asobase (Lerche)

I just recently completed this anime and I absolutely loved it. There were multiple scenes that had me clutching my side because I was just laughing too hard. This anime centers around three very unique high school girls. Hanako comes from a rich family, is extremely smart, but also extremely thick-headed in social situations. Olivia is known as the transfer student from America, due to her looks, but is actually born and raised in Japan. Kasumi likes to keep to herself, is terrified of men, and hates playing games—being teased by her sister when she was younger. These three unique girls form a club called the "Past-Timer's Club" where they sit around after school playing random games with one another. Often times these games lead to hilarious results. These three are the perfect comedy trio and are so fun to watch.

'Gakuen Babysitters'

Gakuen Babysitters (Brain's Base)

Never would I have thought I would be watching an anime where the story is mainly centered around toddlers, but this anime won me over. After Ryuuichi's parents died in a fatal plane crash, he and his younger brother are left on their own, until they are approached by the chairman of an elite academy who offers them a place to stay with a catch. Ryuuichi must work as the school's babysitter to help support the female staff who have young children. Soon after, a babysitter's club is formed at the school where we meet more characters and get to experience the dynamic personalities of the toddlers he is looking after.

'Sakamoto Desu Ga?'

Sakamoto Desu Ga? (Studio Deen

Now this is definitely an over-the top-comedy where one character excels in multiple outrageous scenarios. Sakamoto is the prime example of the perfect human being. Everything he seems to do seems effortless. Girls love him, guys are jealous of his looks, and he's the top student at his school. But how can anyone be so perfect? This causes his classmates and even his teachers to start trying to reach Sakamoto's level while also trying to tear him down a peg or two. Thus entails a great comedy anime full random situations and characters.

'Grand Blue'

Grand Blue (Zero-G)

I went into this anime thinking I would be watching a light comedy where the characters went on a journey learning how to scuba dive. Yeah, that was definitely not the case with this one. Throughout the 12-episode season, there are about two to three episodes that we actually see the characters do some diving. Set around college freshman Iori Kitahara, he moves into his uncle's diving shop where he encounters a group of rowdy, naked college students that get him to drink the night away. Thus begins his college journey with the diving club where they like to play lots of drinking games and eventually get to diving.

'Zombieland Saga'

Zombieland Saga (MAPPA)

Finally, we have an anime where each episode seems more random than the next. A group of young girls all have big dreams and normal lives until one day when they all wake up to being zombies. Sakura Minamoto is the first to fully regain her consciousness to find out some strange man has formed this idol group of young girl zombies to save the city. I'm still a bit unsure as to why and how this man brought the girls back and formed the group because the anime is still airing, but each episode brings a different element to the idol group and the show itself.

There it is! My list for anime that has made me cry laughing and has me continue searching for more like these. Hopefully this list has sparked you to give one of these a try. You definitely won't regret it.
