I Can't Believe This A-Lister Almost Starred in 'Mighty Ducks'!

Disney has made a star out of many actors throughout it's long history.

Disney has made a star out of many actors throughout its long history. With the likes of Lindsay Lohan, Ryan Gosling and Justin Timberlake having their start there, it is no surprise when you realize a big star actually started their career with Disney

However, there is one star who passed up the chance to make his start in the good old House of Mouse:

Jake Gyllenhaal went on the Howard Stern Show and mentioned how he had been up for a role in the popular movie Mighty Ducks, however, his parents wouldn't allow him to accept the role.

“I definitely remember crying on the kitchen counter.I was like, ‘You guys are crazy.’My parents were like, ‘Look, you’re about to enter junior high school, you gotta get your education, that’s the most important thing.I promise you, you hate us now, but you’ll thank us later.' And I do.”

It's actually refreshing to hear this. Many children in the business are pushed to do films by their parents, who would rather have them make money to finance their family than live a normal childhood. Jake was able to do the opposite, however, and live a normal life for awhile because of it.

“I think all of that movie stuff meant more for adults. And I think [child stardom] can mess you up.”

It's good to know that he has such a good head on his shoulders and can see now that his parents were right. I am glad he didn't hold a grudge! While it would have been nice to see him put on a pair of skates and help form the "Flying V" I am glad that we have him working in film today without having fallen into the trap of difficult times that so many child stars face.
