How Marvel Can Make a Solo Hulk Film!

Ever since we saw Mark Ruffalo's performance as Bruce Banner in The Avengers, people have been asking why the big green fan-favorite has yet to receive his own solo movie. Sure, we got The Incredible Hulk starring Edward Norton before he was recast by Mark Ruffalo, but we have no sequel actually starring Ruffalo.

Iron Man, Captain America, and Thor have received well deserved sequels, but Marvel remains reluctant to give Ruffalo his own film. You can understand their hesitance, I mean the first two Hulk movies, while decently successful, were mild disappointments to comic book fans.

One reason why Marvel has yet to give Hulk another standalone film is due to the fact, that everyone wants to see the Hulk, not Bruce Banner. It is hard to make a movie with an interesting storyline when all people want to see is a character who smashes things.

We all want to see a Hulk solo movie, and most comic book fans always go back to mentioning the "Planet Hulk" storyline, as a possible storyline for a standalone Hulk movie. But through that whole storyline in the comics, all you see is the Hulk, not Bruce Banner. Which goes back to story problems again.

Unless Hulk takes some speech classes, how can we sit through a two hour movie of nothing but smashing things and Hulk grunting. It worked in the comics, and it was a great story, but I cannot see this translating to film. He does seem to have the ability to speak as we could see in The Avengers, but is it enough to be the main character in a blockbuster film?

You could re-work the storyline to include Bruce Banner instead of just Hulk I suppose. But this is all moot considering Kevin Feige has said that Marvel has no plans for a "Planet Hulk" storyline. Perhaps Marvel does not want a Universe where Hulk is alienated from the Avengers.

Is there a way that we can see a Hulk smashing things, while also see a storyline develop around Bruce Banner? Is the answer possibly in Jennifer Walters A.K.A. She-Hulk?

Jennifer Walters is the cousin of Bruce Banner, who after being shot needed a blood transfusion, and the only donor available was Bruce. Giving her his radioactive blood transformed her into She-Hulk.

Unlike Hulk, She-Hulk is able to speak clearly in her Hulk form and even has better control than her cousin. But does this have to be the case in the movies?

Here is my idea: A movie centering around Bruce Banner trying to help his cousin control her She-Hulk form.

You can have an interesting storyline where not only do we see plenty of Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner, but TWO Hulks. This way fans will not be experiencing with-drawl from not enough Hulk, because this presents opportunities for scenes featuring both Banner and a Hulk (She-Hulk). Of course, a showdown between Hulk and She-Hulk would be amazing to see as well.

Not only does this give you a Hulk movie, but also introduces another female superhero into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Possibly even a replacement for Hulk in future phases of the MCU if Ruffalo retires or the Hulk dies/retires (although I do not know how the Hulk could "retire").
