How Far Funkos Have Come

Dear Vocal Readers,

Oh, Funko Pops, how far they have come throughout the years and what a glorious journey it has been. I have been in love with Funko Pops ever since I first laid eyes on them. At this point I can't even remember the first time I saw one or which character it was, but my collection of almost 40 can tell you how big of a fan I am in place of that knowledge. While I have this many Funkos it does sadden me to say that I only have a select few that are made from the older style. Oh, do you not know how to determine whether one is new or old based on first glance? Well here my friend, let me explain.

Blank face, no eyebrows, and arms out to the side. These are classic signs of a more mature Funko Pop. There were of course enough details to be able to distinguish what character it was supposed to be portraying, but the details were minimal. It seemed they gave them just enough to pass and nothing more. But this is understandable of course. Companies must start from the ground up and products will inevitably get sharper as revenue grows. You have to start somewhere to get anywhere. Below are a few examples of some of the original Funko Pops that were created.

Did the sight of them make you shudder as they made me? Among these the Dorothy must be the newest as her hands are not at the typical spot of by her sides. Notice also the eyelashes they gave her, a common thing they did to separate girl and guy Funko Pops.

Well there you have it for the older ones, now let's move on to the brilliant products they turnout today! You will notice eyebrows are given along with great amounts of detail. They can stand in many different ways now and some are even propelled up to appear as though they are jumping or flying (I know, how cool right?!). So now that your eyes have been assaulted by their original creations, feast your eyes open some of the most intricate and beautiful pieces of art they have created thus far.

Aren't your eyes pleased? Just take in all the beauty, even though there is so much to take in I know. Can you see and appreciate how far Funko Pops have come?! They went from "drab to fab" as some would say and turned the tables on all the naysayers. They have become amazing figurines for such low prices and it is truly a sight to see. Clearly, I love Funko Pops maybe a little bit too much and am pretty biased. However, that doesn't mean that a non-fan can't see the progress this company has made and how far they have come either. So congratulations Funko, you have become a juggernaut in your field and a true staple for geeks like me.
