Spoiler Warning: This article reveals the complete story and ending of Hotel Artemis.

The story begins in the year 2028, when Los Angeles is collapsing under violent riots. Water has been privatized, leaving ordinary people furious and desperate. Protesters fill the streets, police forces respond with weapons, and the entire city slowly turns into a war zone.

Taking advantage of the chaos, two criminal brothers, Sam and Max, attempt to rob a bank with their partners, Roy and Tommy. However, once they enter the bank, they discover that the employees do not have access to the main vault.

Sam quickly changes the plan. Because wealthy clients are sending employees to hide valuable possessions during the riots, the criminals decide to rob those clients instead.

During the robbery, Max steals an expensive-looking pen from one of the victims. The man warns him that taking it will prove to be a terrible mistake, but Max ignores him.

The group blows open a wall to escape through an alley, but the police soon locate them. A violent shootout follows. Tommy is killed, while Roy, Max and Sam are badly wounded. Max suffers the most serious injuries. Sam protects his brother by using his bulletproof vest to absorb much of the gunfire.

With no ordinary hospital available to criminals like them, Sam contacts Hotel Artemis.

Welcome to Hotel Artemis

Hotel Artemis is not a normal hotel. It is a secret, highly advanced hospital created exclusively for criminals. It is operated by a woman known only as the Nurse.

The Nurse is highly skilled in medicine, but she suffers from severe agoraphobia. She is terrified of open spaces and has not stepped outside the hotel for nearly twenty years.

Her assistant and security guard, Everest, protects the building and makes sure every guest obeys its rules.

The rules are strict:

No weapons are allowed.

Guests cannot kill one another.

No photographs or videos can be taken.

Every patient must have a valid membership.

When Sam, Max and Roy arrive, the Nurse checks the chips implanted in their wrists. Sam and Max are registered members, but Roy’s membership mark is fake.

After being refused entry, Roy attacks Sam. Everest easily overpowers him, injects him with a sedative and throws him out of the hotel.

Inside, Sam and Max are assigned code names and taken to a treatment room. The Nurse begins operating on Max with the help of robotic medical technology.

The hospital also contains a 3D printer capable of creating replacement organs. However, the Nurse explains that the printed organs can become toxic. Max needs a new liver, but even after receiving it, his condition remains extremely dangerous. He can survive only while connected to life support.

Two other criminals are already staying at the hotel.

The first is Nice, an international assassin. The second is Billy, an arrogant arms dealer. Nice has deliberately allowed herself to be injured so she can enter the hotel and get close to her next target.

The Wolf King Is Coming

The Nurse receives a call from Crosby Franklin, the son of Orion Franklin, also known as the Wolf King.

The Wolf King is one of the most powerful crime lords in Los Angeles and the secret owner of Hotel Artemis. He has been seriously injured and needs immediate treatment.

The Nurse refuses to leave the hotel because treating patients outside the building is against the rules. Crosby is therefore forced to bring his father to her.

Meanwhile, the riots outside become increasingly destructive. Drones and missiles are being used, and Everest suggests evacuating the building. The Nurse refuses because she believes the hotel is still safe.

Sam later meets Nice in the lounge. Their conversation reveals that the two share a complicated romantic history. Billy assumes that Sam is protecting Nice, but Sam laughs and warns him that Nice is probably the most dangerous person inside the hotel.

Sam secretly steals Billy’s wallet. Hidden inside it, he finds a microchip concealed beneath a playing card.

Nice later joins Sam for a drink. Sam notices how much she has changed. She now has several hotel membership marks on her wrist and an implant in her eye. The implant allows her clients to watch and record her assassinations.

Sam then shows her the pen Max stole during the robbery.

Nice immediately recognizes it.

The pen belongs to the Wolf King.

When she opens it, they discover six extremely valuable diamonds hidden inside. Each diamond is worth approximately ₹170 crore. The Wolf King is known for brutally killing anyone who steals from him.

Nice warns Sam to escape before the crime lord arrives. However, Sam refuses to abandon Max. Their argument becomes emotional, and Nice kisses him before walking away.

She is frustrated because Sam always sacrifices his own life for his irresponsible brother.

A Police Officer Breaks the Rules

Security cameras detect an injured police officer named Morgan Daniels outside the hotel. She looks directly at the camera and calls the Nurse by her real name, Jean Thomas.

Even Everest does not know that name.

The Nurse recognizes Morgan and wants to help her, but police officers are forbidden from entering Hotel Artemis. Everest warns that breaking such an important rule could destroy the trust of every criminal who uses the hospital.

When the power fails again and Everest leaves to check the generator, the Nurse secretly exits through a hidden passage.

Because of her agoraphobia, stepping outside is extremely difficult. She puts on her headphones and listens to therapy recordings while forcing herself to move through the riot-filled streets.

She reaches Morgan and shows her a photograph of her dead son. Morgan recognizes the boy, proving that the two women share a painful history.

Police officers soon find the Nurse standing beside Morgan. Before they can question her, Everest arrives and knocks them unconscious. He then carries Morgan back into the hotel.

The Nurse operates on Morgan and saves her life.

Morgan asks why she risked everything to help a police officer. The Nurse replies that she did it because they are like family.

The conversation brings back memories of the Nurse’s son, who she believes died from a drug overdose. Overwhelmed by grief, she locks herself in a room and cries.

Nice’s Real Target

While all this is happening, Nice secretly listens to Crosby’s conversations from the rooftop. Her true target is finally revealed: she has been hired to assassinate the Wolf King.

Billy discovers her plan and knocks her unconscious.

The Wolf King eventually arrives at the hotel with Crosby and a large group of armed men. Because weapons are forbidden, the Nurse refuses to open the gate until everyone follows the rules.

The Wolf King orders his men to remain outside. Before entering, he gives Crosby his ring, believing that he may not survive the night.

Once the Wolf King is inside, Everest secretly escorts Morgan out of the building. Morgan promises never to reveal the existence of Hotel Artemis.

Sam notices her police boots but allows her to leave without creating trouble.

Nice regains consciousness and plants an explosive device on the hotel’s generator. She needs the power failure to isolate her target.

Inside the treatment room, the Nurse operates on the Wolf King. Under the influence of medication, he mentions her son’s name.

The Nurse immediately becomes suspicious because she never told him anything about her child.

She gives him additional drugs and pressures him to reveal the truth.

The Wolf King finally confesses that her son did not die from an overdose. The boy had stolen one of his cars. As punishment, the Wolf King’s men murdered him and threw his body into the sea.

Corrupt police officers were paid to create a false overdose report.

After the boy’s death, the Wolf King found the Nurse emotionally broken and gave her the job at Hotel Artemis. For twenty years, she unknowingly worked for the man responsible for destroying her life.

Max Dies and the Hotel Falls Into Chaos

Sam returns to Max’s room and discovers that his brother has injected himself with the Nurse’s narcotics.

Max had promised to leave drugs and crime behind, but he is still addicted. He knows he may not survive and tells Sam to save himself.

Sam uses the microchip stolen from Billy to create a gun with the hotel’s 3D printer.

At that moment, Nice’s bomb explodes and shuts down the hotel’s power. Billy’s waiting helicopter leaves without him, making him furious.

The power failure also disconnects Max’s life-support system.

The Nurse rushes to save him, but despite all her efforts, Max dies.

While the Nurse is occupied, Nice enters the Wolf King’s room. He offers her more money to spare him, but she refuses. She kills him and records the assassination through the implant in her eye.

When Sam learns that Nice planted the bomb, he blames her for Max’s death.

He confronts her with his gun. Nice insists that she did not know Max depended on life support. Sam begins to believe her and lowers his weapon.

Suddenly, Billy appears and shoots both of them.

Believing he has won, Billy mocks Sam and Nice. His arrogance gives Sam an opportunity to attack. Sam grabs him, forces his head into the 3D printer and switches on the machine, killing him.

The Final Escape

After learning about his father’s death, Crosby discovers that the ring given to him contains an explosive device. He uses it to blow a hole through the wall and enters the hotel with his men.

The Nurse finds Sam and the injured Nice. She takes them toward the secret escape route.

They meet Everest, who decides to stay behind and fight the Wolf King’s soldiers. The Nurse gives him the hotel keys and hugs him before leaving.

Nice also chooses to remain behind.

She closes the elevator doors and tells the Nurse to explain to Sam what she has done. Nice knows that Crosby’s men will kill Sam if nobody stops them. She stays because, despite everything between them, she still loves him.

Everest fights the attackers with an axe while Nice uses stolen scalpels. Together, they hold back the criminals long enough for the Nurse to treat Sam’s injuries and reach the hotel’s unused front entrance.

However, Crosby is waiting there.

He wants revenge for his father’s death.

Sam shows him the diamond-filled pen and offers him a deal. He explains that possessing the Wolf King’s pen and diamonds could help Crosby claim his father’s criminal empire.

Crosby agrees to let Sam leave, but he refuses to spare the Nurse.

Sam pretends to accept the deal. When he moves closer to hand over the pen, he attacks Crosby.

Because Sam is already badly injured, Crosby quickly gains the advantage. Just as he is about to kill him, the Nurse injects Crosby with the powerful narcotic normally used to sedate elephants.

The overdose kills him.

Hotel Artemis Ending Explained

Sam helps the Nurse control her fear and finally step outside.

The riots are still raging across Los Angeles, but the two manage to locate the car Sam ordered earlier.

Sam asks the Nurse to come with him, but she refuses. After spending her entire life treating wounded people, she realizes that helping others is the only thing that gives her peace.

She tells Sam about another criminal hospital in Las Vegas that may be able to help him. Sam admits that, for the first time in his life, he has no plan. He then drives away alone.

The Nurse walks back toward Hotel Artemis.

As she approaches, the hotel’s sign suddenly lights up. This means someone inside has restarted the generator. It may be Everest, Nice or another survivor.

The Nurse puts on her headphones, starts her music and walks toward the injured people in the streets, ready to help them.

In the final scene, the shadow of a woman can be seen inside Hotel Artemis. The figure appears to be Nice, suggesting that she survived the battle against the Wolf King’s men.

The ending shows that the Nurse has finally escaped both her physical prison and her emotional one. She learns the truth about her son, confronts the man responsible and finds the courage to step outside after twenty years.

Hotel Artemis may have been built to protect criminals, but by the end of the night, it becomes the place where the Nurse finally regains control of her own life.
