Harry Potter Opinions…. Popular, and not so Popular

Everyone has an opinion on things that are not so well highlighted as to why they took place in this series. You might agree, or not. Some of these are quite popular, and some not so much.

Ron and Hermionie….why did they end up married? I love this, so I would have loved their story allot better if they would have started dating earlier in book 5 let’s say. And giving more depth in them navigating a dating relationship, navigating with breakups, and the evolution of them through it all. All of this would have been great for the young adult example of life. And getting all of them married to other main characters, not such a great plot in my own opinion. It seems that J.K.Rowlling admitted in an interview that she has always built Hermionie as an image of herself, and Ron’s character was formed in the image of a childhood friend. So probably this is why she made them end up married, and not in the most popular way people were thinking it will end with Hermionie and Harry.

Harry had to die. You see him surviving the entire series is a plot hole. I don’t think the evolution of this character, and him ending up married and a dad as well is not making sense to me. His stories were probably changed due to all the riots of parents that had it against this series. As we all know there have been many people coming out and stating that these books should not be given to kids to read.

Neville love…we need more of it. Still think it should have been a moment where everyone would have realized that he was actually the chosen boy and not Harry. We can see at the end how he is an active important character that had a big print on the outcome. He should have finished the job, he had a lot to do with finishing it all up. But if you listen to the prophecy if could have been him the chosen one…Plus it would have made even more sense if Harry died.

Snape needed more appreciation. I know he was not the perfect character, but I do think he had such an important role and such great depth. He is mean and cruel to most people, students and colleagues, but once you keep in mind his childhood and his experience in school it all makes more sense. His love for Lilly changed it all for him. And he actually changed at the end for the best outcome for everyone, on the good side of things that is.

Ginnie the badass. I know we get glimpses of her being a great rounded character and warrior, full of skills against the Dark Lords army. But I would have liked her to be involved in the search for the Horcruxes. I mean she got sidelined in a very brutal way by both her love Harry and her brother Ron and friend Hermionie. That I find it difficult to see how she would have just stayed behind and not come after them.

Harry in book 5 being anxious….not so much in my opinion. Harry being angry and angsty in book 5, I’m pretty sure Ron and Hermione didn’t write to Harry that whole summer after Cedric died because they were at the Order headquarters and Dumbledore asked them not to. So Harry watched Cedric die, the majority of the wizarding community turned their backs on him, he returned to an abusive home, and he lost all his connection to friends and his chosen family in the wizarding world. Poor guy had every right to be angry, on top of the whole having an evil dark wizard wanting you dead. And oh yeah…beeing 15 years old on top of all of that.

Harry’s kid’s names are trash. Albus Severus, James Sirius, and Lily. Ginny birthed these kids and her whole family adopted Harry from the start. But every name is only about Harry’s family or people that mattered to him. No love for Arthur or Molly or even for poor Fred! This is borderline cu cu if you ask me.

How come Fred and George never saw a man named Peter Pettigrew sleeping with Ron every night on the map and didn’t say anything. How absolutely insane is that? And how this thing was never explored in a bit more detail in any of the books? I mean they had the map for a long time before they gave it to Harry in the third book.

I loved reading these books, and love comes from a nostalgic place but also from a love for good stories. I must admit that this series is not a great one due to the many , many plotholes. But it is full of amazing things in it, and all books have things that don’t quite fit in them. I could talk a entire day about why I love this series.
