Happy Patsgiving Day

Everyone expresses their gratitude to Patton

It wasn't exactly a secret that the Sanders Sides were able to materialize items and settings at will. However, among them, they ranged from Sides that get a little carried away pretty often (Roman and Remus) to Sides who feel better not doing so unless it's a necessity (Patton) and everyone else who does so without always making a big show out of it or creating something without reason (Logan, Virgil, and Deceit).

There's a reason why Patton feels better about not materializing items much. As the paternal figure in the group, he is tasked with looking after his family and providing for them and Thomas. Since he had that task and all the responsibilities attached to it, it wasn't surprising for him to take the responsibility of cooking Thanksgiving dinner. He was aware of how much work it took to prepare the dinner and the dangers of procrastination, so he worked on the dinner a week in advance. Sure, he would've just materialized it on the day of, but doing the work himself made him feel like he was being productive and that he might be able to prove the remarks about him wrong. He figured an "airhead" wouldn't consider cooking a week in advance. He figured someone who "always needs the aid of someone else" wouldn't be cooking without someone else. He figured someone who was "sheltered" wouldn't be looking for new recipes to try out on his own. On the outside, he seemed to be able to brush comments like those off his shoulders, but they truly hurt deep down.

It took several days, but he managed to prepare all the dishes and placed them in proper containers to save for the big day. He had a feeling Logan would find an infinitesimal mistake in his cooking somehow, but he wanted to at least pretend he wasn't prone to somehow screwing up. He decided it would be best to take a nap since he used cooking to procrastinate on sleeping to evade the other way around. Once Patton went to his room, he surrounded himself with a plethora of stuffed toy versions of cute animals as he was getting into bed. He couldn't help but remember that emotions weren't exactly simple since he felt satisfied for completing the dinner without being lazy, yet felt empty believing that thankfulness towards him would just be short lived. He just closed his eyes with the hope of forgetting the emotional vulnerabilities of his role.

By the time Patton stopped dreaming, he snuggled in his blanket and stuffed animals while trying to get back to sleep. When he realized he felt less stuffed animals than he remembered having in his bed, he finally accepted his fate of being awake. He looked around and saw that he wasn't in his own bedroom, but Thomas's. He had a lot of questions going through his head and hoped he didn't force Thomas to sleep on the couch. He left the bedroom while trying to make sure he wasn't too noisy since he had yet to check the time.

Once he went down the stairs, he couldn't believe what he was seeing: he saw decorations of white and light blue as well as a mural of various types of fan art of himself covering one of the walls. As he turned the corner in awe, he saw his family, including Thomas, surround a table of pasta, pizza, and a giant cookie pizza with his logo drawn on it in icing. He looked above their heads and saw a decorated banner that said "Happy Patsgiving Day" on it. As he was struggling to find his words, Thomas approached him and placed a hand on the father's shoulder.

"Glad to see you awake, Patton. Now we can officially give you all the thanks you deserve," he told his morality before giving him a big hug.

"Oh, um, thank you, but it's not really necessary," Patton tried to counter while hugging back.

"That's the umpteenth lie I could sense coming from you," Deceit retorted as the two Hufflepuffs pulled apart.

Logan cleared his throat to bring attention to himself and started to speak once Patton made eye contact with him.

"You see, although you're most skilled at identifying emotions amongst all of us, Deceit was able to identify the emotional lies you tell yourself. Once he informed us of those, it wasn't until Thomas reminded us of your Patton that we stopped taking Deceit's concerns with a grain of salt," Logan explained.

"Umm... thank you?" Deceit inserted awkwardly.

"So, long story short, we all, well, at least all of us here, thought it would be a good idea to have a small celebration expressing our appreciation for you. After all, you allow Thomas to be empathetic, you take care of all of us and help us, and, well, you're obviously smart in your own fields," Logan concluded.

The nerd approached Patton and looked at his own arms before awkwardly wrapping them around his more emotional counterpart.

"Pardon me, I'm not the best with emotions let alone this type of affection," Logan excused.

Patton felt surprised and felt the whole thing must've been important enough for Logan to do something outside of his character. He silently hugged his hero back with a smile and with tears of joy in his eyes as a way of embracing a moment he knew would happen once in a lifetime. Once the two let go of one another, Roman proclaimed, "By the way, I thought it would be a good idea to snatch Remus's voice before the party."

Virgil chuckled before following up with, "And I... got worried about him performing actions that would speak louder than words, so I had him chained to a wall at the Dark Side. I don't think he objected to it, though."

Amongst the awkward laughter, Thomas went to the kitchen and came out with a vase with Winnie the Pooh painted on it containing a poppy and sunflowers; one sunflower for each "son" and the poppy representing Patton. Patton laughed at the pun that blossomed and they proceeded with their celebration.
