Black Mask (1996) Directed by Daniel Lee

Plot/Synopsis: A survivor of a supersoldier project must fight his former comrades as a masked hero.

Personal Thoughts/Takeaways: Watch the 1999 U.S re-release by Artisan entertainment in the English dub with the HipHop soundtrack by Tommy Boy Records. It lines up with films like The Crow (1993), Blade (1998), & The Matrix (1999). A film with a modern gothic aesthetic , set in 90’s Hong Kong. With fast paced high octane action and over the top pulpy gore. This film would also lowkey inspire The Matrix, especially since Yuen Woo-Ping is the fight choreographer of the film. Which leads him to go on to choreograph The Matrix.
