Saya Kisaragi from Clamp's Blood-C ( I do not own these characters)

Halloween anime watch list.

Are you ready to get into the spooky spirit of Halloween? Well, look no further because I have the perfect anime watch list for you! Whether you're a fan of horror, supernatural, or just love the chilling atmosphere of Halloween, these anime will keep you on the edge of your seat.

Here are my top five picks for this Halloween season

Blood-C (2011) full of vamire slaying adventure with lots of twists and turns around every corner.

5 Blood-C (2011)

This horror anime by clamp is the second series set in the world of Blood with the first being Blood+ which I also recommend, however, Blood-C is superior in every possible way. Blood-C leans into the more mystery side of Vampire stories. Blood-C revolves around the life of Saya Kisaragi, a seemingly ordinary high school student leading a double life as a skilled swordswoman. Set in the peaceful town of Shirona, Saya's life takes a drastic turn when she uncovers a hidden secret about her true identity and the dark forces lurking beneath the surface. As the story progresses, Saya finds herself battling dangerous creatures known as Elder Bairns, while learning about her past and the true purpose of her existence. One of the features I love about Blood-C is its dark and atmospheric setting. The series masterfully creates a sense of unease and suspense, with haunting visuals and a chilling soundtrack that adds to the overall eerie atmosphere. The animation is beautifully done, with detailed character designs and fluid action sequences that immerse viewers in the intense battles between Saya and her adversaries.

Blood-C combines elements of action and horror, creating a captivating and adrenaline-fueled viewing experience. The intense battles between Saya and the Elder Bairns are visually stunning and filled with suspense, while the horror elements add a sense of dread and tension to the narrative. The gore and violence in the series are not for the faint-hearted, but they contribute to the overall dark and gritty atmosphere. If you are a fan of action, horror, or captivating narratives, Blood-C is definitely worth adding to your watchlist.

Alucard from Hellsing Ultimate will give more of thoes classic horror story vibes that are perfect for the Halloween season. (i do not own)

4 Hellsing Ultimate (2001)

Hellsing Ultimate is a thrilling and intense anime series that captivates audiences with its unique blend of horror, action, and supernatural elements. Based on the manga series by Kouta Hirano, Hellsing Ultimate is a reboot of the original Hellsing anime, offering a more faithful adaptation that stays true to the source material. Hellsing Ultimate is its diverse range of intriguing and complex characters. Alucard, the main protagonist, is a fascinating vampire with a twisted sense of justice. His chilling presence and immense power make him a force to be reckoned with, and his interactions with other characters provide both depth and entertainment. Integra Hellsing, the head of the organization, is a strong and determined leader who adds a layer of seriousness and authority to the story. Seras Victoria, a former police officer turned vampire, brings a fresh perspective to the series as she navigates her new existence and battles her inner demons. Hellsing also incorporates some real world themes and questions about humanity and darkness. Hellsing Ultimate is known for its intense and gory action sequences. From Alucard's relentless onslaught against his enemies to the brutal battles between supernatural beings, the series doesn't shy away from showcasing graphic violence. If you are looking for a classic Halloween horror series, Hellsing Ultimate delivers an unforgettable viewing experience. Whether you're a fan of the original manga or new to the series, Hellsing Ultimate is sure to satisfy

Trigger Warning: If you are sensitive to high levels of gore keep that in mind before watching Hellsing is very bloody. Also if you are impacted by World War Two and Nazi violence, be aware that they are a part of the story.

3 Sleeping Princess In The Demon Castle (2020)

Sleepy Princess In The Demon Castle A fun fantasy comdy that will be a new family anime night

Sleepy Princess In The Demon Castle is a charming fantasy comedy and will be a good watch for the whole family. Your family can have a fun night watching The captured Princess Syalis on a quest to have the perfect conditions for a peaceful night's rest. Syalis is willing to risk her life and the life of the demons who dwell inside the castle alongside her. This Princess is so obsessed with sleep that she forgets that she is a prisoner that was captured by the Demon King. Some moments will have you questioning if Princess Syalis is the real Demon. This anime also had more touching moments between the characters showing that there is some heart behind the comedy. This Comedy has some adult humor but most of it will go over the heads of children. I watch this one with my eight year old and it’s one of their top animes to rewatch. Sleeping Princess will have you belly laughing and wondering why it wasn’t picked up for a second season.

2 Claymore (2007)

Clare a powerful Claymore warrior that hunts Yoma

Claymore is in my top 20 of my favorite anime. Claymore is a beautiful anime with a compelling story and fantastic fight sequences and is the perfect addition to any Halloween anime watch party. Set in a fantasy medieval world, an Island is plagued by monsters named yoma that feed on the humans of its world. The only hope they have comes in the form of for hire warriors that were created by “The Organization” a mysterious group that mixed the blood of human women and the yoma to create the ultimate weapon to save humanity. The villagers that pay for the services of the warrior call them Claymore due to the long swords they carry. Claymore is a beautifully animated monster fantasy with a moving score and fantastic world building. Claymore will leave you wishing they would have expanded upon the story giving us another season. Leaving both anime watchers and manga readers torn on the ending of the series. If you find yourself wanting more Claymore like I did, the manga is available on Shonen Jump.

Honorable Mention:How To Keep A Mummy (2018)

Mii-Kun and Sora become best friends in this wholesome anime.

Is a short and sweet anime about a teenager named Sora and his tiny roommate, a Mini Mummy. The Mummy was sent by Sora’s father as a companion while he is away on his own adventures as an archaeologist. You'll laugh as Sora and his friends meet other mystical and magical creatures that build bonds of friendship between all of them. This comedy is super wholesome and will have you adding it to your list of comfort anime.

That’s my Halloween watch list for 2023, these Halloween classics will put you in the holiday spirit. Grab a warm drink, a warm Blanket and enjoy!
