Halloween 2026 Costume: Savannah Bananas
It's Bananas: B-A-N-A-N-A-S!

If you're old enough to understand the reference in my subtitle, congratulations.
Around August or September, I always prepare for Halloween. I think about the holiday around June, coming up with some ideas of who or what to dress up as. 2026 will be my 17th year taking part in this celebration. Yes, you've heard that right. I've been dressing up for Halloween since 2010 and at the time, I was 22 years old. The last two Halloweens were baseball-related, with me being an Angel in the Outfield and the year before that, Reggie Jackson. I won my company-wide Halloween contests two years in a row and aiming for a third. I'll be sticking with the baseball theme again this year. However, who I'll be for Halloween is someone I intend to outdo last year's costume. Based on the subtitle for this story, you've probably have heard of them. It's none other than the Savannah Bananas. For those that aren't familiar with them, they're like the baseball version of The Harlem Globetrotters. Some people love them, while others despise them. For years, I fell in the latter category. I've accused them of ruining baseball, having entitled attitudes, and thinking that they were above everyone. I still stand by the last two points and have a right to feel this way, but it was difficult for me to find any reason to like them. Now, I'm starting to warm up to them a little (heavy emphasis on the little part) and give them a fair shot, which I've constantly resisted previously. Also, my birthday will take place about a couple of weeks after Halloween, and it'll be my final year in my thirties. I'll highlight the items that I plan to purchase in order to put this amazing costume together.
Customized Jersey

The most important article of clothing when you're going as a baseball player is a jersey. In this case, I found a Savannah Bananas jersey on eBay, and it had an option for me to customize it. I wanted the name Professor on the back of the jersey, because that was my childhood nickname. For the jersey number, I chose the number 13, because I was born on the 13th of November and it's a lucky number, due to the fact that I'm a Scorpio. Someone on the Bananas already had that number, but I didn't care. It was all fair game.
Yellow Baseball Belt
This an adult size belt and at a reasonable price.

Yellow Baseball Pants With Blue Stripes
It matches my jersey to an absolute T.
Yellow and Black Baseball Cleats
For context, I wear a size 10 in shoes. Finding these on Depop with the correct size was the right fit for me.
Yellow Wristbands
These can be worn for any sport, but for my costume, I'll be purchasing a set of yellow wristbands.
Pollyanna Rhinestone Necklace (Blue and Yellow)
On Etsy, I found a necklace that has necklace lengths from 16 to 24 inches. The length of the necklace is priced differently. Perfect for me to stand out while wearing my costume.
Yellow Baseball Socks
These are perfect for any sport and just like the cleats I highlighted, I wear a size 10 in socks.
Blue and Yellow Seed Bracelets
We return yet again to Etsy for this entry. They range from six inches to seven and a half inches based on the price. Also, you can choose from blue, yellow, blue/yellow mix, or a set of three.
Blue and Gold Beaded Bracelets
Still sticking with Etsy. There are different kinds of bracelets to choose from and also, you can select the size that suits your wrist or wrists.
Yellow Suspenders
I know what everyone's thinking: Suspenders with a baseball outfit? Crazy idea? Yes, but for a good reason. Staying true to my nickname, I plan on purchasing these. Also, I wear glasses, so it fits the nerdy aspect to my costume. I don't think any of the men from the Savannah Bananas have done this, but I might as well become the first to do this.
Suspenders for Men and Women Adjustable Suspender Yellow Gold Suspenders | eBay
I've only bought the customized jersey so far, so I'll be purchasing the rest of the items featured in this story. Once I've done that, I'll do an official costume reveal. This Halloween, The Professor Goes Bananas.
