When Did Gujrati Movies Start

Gujrati film industry, also known as Dhollywood is the segment of Indian cinema dedicated to the production of motion pictures in the Gujrati language. Gujrati cinema is based in the state of Gujarat in Western India.

It was formerly part of the Bombay cinema (known as Bollywood), the Hindi cinema based in Mumbai (formerly known as Bombay).

The first silent film, Raja Harishchandra, was released in 1913. By 1930, the industry was producing over 20 films per annum. The first talkie movie, Narsinh Mehta, was released in 1932.

During its early years, Gujrati cinema was frequently referred to as "Dadasaheb Phalke Nagari". As a result of increasing competition from other regional industries like Marathi and Tamil cinema and decline in audience base and financial issues, many studios closed down or moved to Bombay during the 1950s.

After that, it went into decline until 1971 when the Government of Gujarat announced a subsidy for Gujrati films.

The industry revived after this announcement, but after 1976 it again went into decline because of several reasons including an increase in taxes on movie tickets, cable TV networks and video piracy.

The Gujrati film industry dates back to 1932 when the first Gujrati film Narsinh Mehta was released. The Gujarat state government is planning to revamp and revive the Gujrati cinema by setting up a Rs 100-crore fund.

The Gujarat government has announced that it will be providing capital support of Rs 100 crore for the revival of Gujarat's movie industry. This initiative is being taken to facilitate local filmmakers to produce movies in regional languages like Gujrati, Hindi, Marathi, and Urdu.

How Gujrati Movies are Made

Gujrati movie industry is one of the oldest film industries in India. It is also the first Indian film industry that pioneered in producing films for the domestic market when other film industries were still producing films for foreign entertainment.

The Gujrati films are no different from other films. The only difference is that they are in the Gujrati language and the actors speak in their vernacular.

Gujrati films have gained popularity over time, thanks to the creative content and modern outlook. The movie industry has grown by leaps and bounds over time, with many talented actors, producers and directors contributing to its growth.

The films are made on a large scale with high production values. It is a known fact that Gujrati movies are made with low budgets as compared to other movies in other languages.

But this does not mean that they lack quality or production values. They do offer good entertainment value and can be enjoyed by all age groups.

The main purpose behind making a movie is to entertain people. If it does not entertain them, then it will not be able to attract audiences and generate profits for the producers and distributors of the film.

A good story, an interesting plotline and an engaging cast are some of the essential ingredients for any film to succeed in the box office.
