General Hospital fans seek answers about the Nurses Ball and Ric Lansing's health

Is Ric going to die?

It's time for May sweeps and rumros are flying about Port Charles. A leak from General Hospital suggests that Ric Lansing (Rick Hearst) has a terminal illness. If true, how ironic that his life has improved just in time for him to face death.

Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) believes his brother has betrayed him but Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn ) warned him not to jump to conclusions. Ric is hiding something but it may not be what Sonny believes.

The rumor mill suggests Ric may have a rare blood disorder and die but no credible spoilers have shared this information. If he is ill there is always the chance that Sonny or someone else could save his life.

What fans know is that Lansing wants to build a relationship with his sibling, spend time with his daughter, Molly Lansing Davis (Kristen Varganos), and has made amends with his enemies: Alexis, Kristina Corinthos Davis (Kate Mansi) and Ava Jerome (Maura West).

Ric lied to Sonny about where he went and who he saw which has his brother suspicious. Apparently, Ric's storyline will heat up during May sweeps, so fans should brace themselves.

What about the 2026 Nurses Ball?

Meanwhile, General Hospital has said nothing about a 2026 Nurses Ball, which usually happens in May. The gala seems impossible at this point. There are so many dramatic situations taking place that there may be no one to put the annual event together.

Lucy Coe (Lyn Northrop) who spearheads the event has not been on screen a lot lately. Liz Webber (Rebecca Herbst) is the only nurse who is shown regularly in the entire hospital.

Nurses Deanna Sirtis (Dioni Michelle Collins) and Amy Driscoll (Risa Dorkin) have not been on screen in a while, and Epiphany Johnson (Sonya Eddie) died. Felix Dubois (Marc Anthony Samuel) was a dedicated nurse who was written out of the soap. He returned for a few years just for the ball but that was a while back.

If there is a ball, who would be in the traditional nurses' dance? Perhaps the GH physicians. Doctor Portia Robinson (Brooke Kerr), is pregnant but Lucas Jones (Van Hansis), and Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud) remain front and center.

Fans are also concerned about when the death of Robert Scorpio (Tristen Rogers) will be addressed. Spoilers teased that Robin Scorpio Drake (Kimberly McCullough) would return to Port Charles and some fans hoped this would coincide with the Nurses Ball.

The event to raise Aids awareness used to be exciting like the year Lucy announced that Richard Simmons had come out of the closet, or when the children were involved in the Chupakabra mystery with Helena Cassadine (Constance Towers) and when Robin returned from the dead.

The last few balls did not offer the same excitement or expectancy. Many fans want it to continue but perhaps the best days are behind us.

Others who watch the soap wanted to see Sasha Gilmore (Sophia Mattson) return with her daughter Daisy for her father's funeral service but Mattsson has joined the cast of Days of our Lives as an unnamed character.
