There is so much going on right now that it’s hard to take in everything all at once. It’s overwhelming and stressful. The best way that I unwind and distract myself these days is I watch shows and movies. I also listen to podcasts when I’m on the road and music anytime of day. My guilty pleasure shows are always K-dramas. Here are five must watch K-dramas on Netflix.

Romance is a Bonus Book

This show is of course as it sounds from the title is a romance show but it is a romantic comedy. The two leads are best friends and The female lead played by Lee Na-young, is a little older than her romantic counterpart (Lee Jong-suk) and she is divorced and has a daughter. The idea is she has nowhere to go since her husband abandons her and eventually stays with her bestie. It is a fun and cute show, something to watch that won’t tear out your heart.

Kingdom

Now this show is for anyone who loves thriller/zombie films. This is considered a period show, as it does take place in a time of kings. This particular show currently has two seasons, the newest season having just released March of this year.We get to see in the first season, the spread of this zombie curse and in the second season we find out exactly what is causing people to become undead. The male lead Ju Ji-hoon (who is just freaking amazing) is at the center of trying to save everyone and trying to keep hold of his kingdom. Fair warning, the beginning of the first season is a bit slow so if you can hang on, it will be worth the ride.

Memories of Alhambra

Okay, if you haven’t seen this yet then you are seriously behind. This show came out two years ago and in my personal opinion, a second season is well overdue. This show is pure fun and thrill. Our leading man, Hyun Bin (who will appear in another show on this list) travels to Spain to meet the creator of a video game he wants his company to purchase. The creator is nowhere to be found, everything is cryptic, he’s left behind a sister who runs a hostel and an adventure that turns deadly begins to spiral out of control. The game is more real than you think. You will get hooked and you will want more.

Itaewon Class

So...I actually haven’t watched this one yet, but I’ve heard a lot of great things about it and the male lead Park Seo-joon was the male lead from the hit drama What’s wrong with Secretary Kim. He is cute and funny and even though I’m not a fan of his haircut in this new show of his, people love it. The Gist is this: An ex-con with the help of his friends fight to make their goals of a street bar a reality. And of love interests and even a possible love triangle? Guess you have to watch to find out.

Crash Landing on You

As usual I have saved the best for last, starring Hyun Bin and Son Ye-jin. This is a whirlwind romantic drama with some comedic elements. A paragliding incident lands our female lead (Son Ye-jin) in North Korea who is going to go on the journey of her life trying to get back home with the help of a North Korean military officer (Hyun Bin). You will find yourself hoping these two find a way to make their dreams a reality and you are going to have a distaste for some minor characters. The relationships that are formed are so well formed, you’ll cry just because it’s over. I want to add that this show is entirely fiction, from characters to storyline.

There you have it, five K-drama shows that a must watch to simply just enjoy. Happy watching!
