Five Best Sitcoms in TV History

And Why You Should Watch Them :)

Sitcoms are arguably the best format for a comedy TV show. It allows the viewers to become attached to the characters, have a great laugh every time the show airs, and share the emotions of the characters in every single scene. Here are a few of the most notable sitcoms in TV history, which you must drop everything you're doing to watch right now!

1) 'FRIENDS'

'm sure that this one doesn't need any explaining, but I'll explain anyways just for our out-of-the-loop friends (no pun intended). Set in the coffee shop, Central Perk, in New York City, this show follows the lives of six friends (Rachel, Monica, Phoebe, Ross, Chandler, and Joey). Each episode captures the romances, friendships, troubles, and triumphs of these six best friends in the most comedic and captivating way possible. Undoubtedly, by the end of the epic 10 seasons, you will feel like the members of the Central Perk gang are your own personal friends who you love and adore. I highly recommend that you dive into the world of New York City with this hilarious group of amazing people. You won't regret it.

2) 'How I Met Your Mother'

How I Met Your Mother takes place, like FRIENDS, in New York City. However, rather than a coffee shop, this sitcom takes place primarily in the pub McLaren's underneath the apartment where Lily, Marshall, Ted, Robin, and Barney all hang out. The show begins when Ted spots Robin across the bar and falls in love with her. This show follows the group around as they fall in and out of love with many people outside of the group and go on many adventures with each other. The characters are lovable, hilarious, and all around enjoyable to watch. I can't recommend this show enough, although it is unfortunately no longer on Netflix but it IS available on Hulu for your viewing convenience!

3) 'The Office'

The vibe of this sitcom is different than the other two that I previously talked about. This show does not employ the use of a laugh track, as the humor is more dry and sarcastic. The star of the show, Michael Scott, is constantly getting himself into trouble by offending people due to his lack of social awareness. He is, however, very hilarious and his mistakes and odd sense of humor just add to that. The other characters that work in The Office, including Jim, Pam, Dwight, Stanley, and more interesting characters. Each character is so unique that throwing them all together really makes for an amazing show. I would highly HIGHLY recommend. Definitely the funniest show I have ever watched, by far

4) 'The Big Bang Theory'

Before watching this show myself, I was under the impression that this show was only for "geeks" or people of an extremely high IQ and that I wouldn't be able to understand it. However, after watching several episodes on a long plane ride, I quickly noticed that that wasn't the case! The intellect and geekishness involved in the show only adds to its humor and overall happy vibe. Although the characters in the show are primarily focused on science and live their lives as extremely smart individuals, it also shows the romantic side of each character, which develops throughout the show. This show is hilarious and I would highly recommend it (to people of ANY IQ!!).

5) 'Full House'

I was inspired to watch this show when I was in San Francisco and drove past the house that the show was inspired after. Similar to the last sitcom I discussed, I decided to watch the limited episodes available to me on a long plane flight and was immediately hooked! The show stars a San Francisco family, a very large family I might add, and all of the ins and outs of raising children and dealing with many different types of people. Each person in the family is extremely different from the next, and watching these characters bounce off of one another really brings happiness to everyone who watches. The energy of the actors and actresses, the young children and all of the other elements is enough to brighten a dull day!

Overall, FRIENDS would have to be my favorite sitcom and overall show of all time. You can't beat the relationship between these friends and how close they all are, and how the show makes you feel one with this gang. I can say for a fact it also made a number of us want to move to New York City! The Big Apple! FRIENDS is truly a great show for people of all generations, hence why it has stayed popular for so long! At the end of the day, I would highly encourage you all to watch each and every one of these sitcoms. You will NOT regret it!
