For only being a month into the new year, quite a bit of information regarding Marvel's upcoming Netflix series debuts, as well as #Marvel movie debuts this year, has already been revealed. The latest tidbit of information to be released has to do with Finn Jones in his first appearance as #DannyRand in Netflix's Iron Fist series.

While Iron Fist will introduce us to Danny Rand, actor Finn Jones will appear for a follow-up appearance shortly after in The Defenders. The Defenders debuts sometime this summer, shortly after Iron Fist.

Finn Jones Speaks About His Upcoming Role As Danny Rand (Iron Fist)

As for the new details on Iron Fist, actor Finn Jones recently opened up about his character's role and how he fits into The Defenders. In the interview with Entertainment Weekly, Finn Jones spoke of the confused state Daniel Rand is in when he exits Iron Fist. According to Jones, his character will suffer some sort of betrayal in Iron Fist, which leads to Danny developing trust issues when he meets his comrades in The Defenders:

"On the one hand, he’s (Danny Rand) craving desperately for family, for help, for guidance, for people to learn from, and for a team. He’s looking for that deeply. But because of what happens in 'Iron Fist,' he’s very untrusting of a lot of people."

Apparently, some event (or someone) will betray Danny's trust so much that it leaves a strong enough impression to make Danny Rand skeptical of trusting anyone. That being said, Finn Jones also commented on how Danny Rand will learn to trust again as he becomes part of the #Defenders:

"Danny is definitely becoming more at ease, I’d say, and more comfortable with his environment because he has others around him, because he’s not going at it alone anymore. You get to see Danny’s brighter side coming out, and he’s not so tormented by this, but also because he’s found his purpose".

Fortunately for Danny Rand, his experience with the Defenders will be a positive one. After closely examining Jones's comments, Jones more than implies that Danny's time with the Defenders will relieve some of the weight carried by Danny after his experiences in #IronFist leave Danny worse off than where he started:

"In 'Iron Fist,' he’s so unwound, because he doesn’t know who he is, there’s always so much confusion, and he’s always on the brink of a total meltdown, or totally annihilating something, someone, mainly himself."

Danny Rand Will Become Iron Fist Thanks To The Defenders

So, from the sound of what Jones is saying about his character in Iron Fist and The Defenders, Danny is learning of the intricacies that complicate his life for the first time. Danny's life in a monastery gave him peace, and trust was not taken for granted. Now that Danny is thrust into the real world again, it's all a bit much to take in.

However, Jones's words on Danny's transformation between Iron Fist and The Defenders seems to imply that Danny will regain some composure when he's united with the Defenders:

"There’s always this high energy frenetic tension, but in 'Defenders,' he’s definitely more responsible. He has ground, has drive. I’d say that’s the key word for Danny in 'The Defenders.' He drives all of the Defenders to get behind him to solve this… [Pauses as the publicist looks up] issue."

For now, we can only make solid guesses towards what kind of hardships Danny Rand will face in Iron Fist. Though, the likeliest scenario will see Danny Rand learn of the real world and how even those closest to him can become the cutthroat type in the right situation. Considering how Colleen Wing and Joy Meachum are the only two characters alongside Danny Rand for the entirety of Iron Fist, it seems like it'll be either Joy or Collleen who causes Danny to question who it is he can really trust.
