FanFiction Rants: Erotic Fanfiction Needs to Go!

Seriously, Enough is Enough!

Two FanFiction Authors Debating On How To Draft A Real Nasty Scene!

Let the hateful comments flood inward!

I am getting sick and tired of fanfiction writers whom devote their time to smut. Seriously, this is perhaps the most insulting form of a fanfiction. I cannot begin to fathom the depravity of anyone to draft a tale depicting such filth. Now, the mental image of our favorite heroes and villains in some massive orgy may seem interesting to the writer of said fanfiction. Yet, let it be known that most of us fans of said medium or fandom do not want that. We want entertainment, not eroticism.

These fanfiction authors whom engage in such disgusting tales of "intimidate encounters" give fanfiction a bad name. In fact, it is of this author's opinion that these erotic fanfiction writers have defiled the term fanfiction forever. It seems that anyone whom hears the word "fanfiction" now envisions depraved filth involving fictional characters.

In the past, fanfiction was strictly written with a "What-If" feel to the story or tale. For example a fanfiction featuring Mr. Spock dealing with the logic behind the creation of ASMR videos on YouTube. Another good example of a fanfiction could be a cross over featuring two fandoms. One such example that I hold dear to me was a Star Wars/Neon Genesis Evangelion cross over fanfiction entitled Neon Jedi Evangelion. One can read this wondrefly written fanfiction here at https://www.fanfiction.net/s/1487127/1/Neon-Jedi-Evangelion. Believe me, it is very good!

Now it seems people just write fanfiction to satisfy their perverted fantasies. The number of times I read a fanfiction that soon turned into absolute filth is staggering. What was even worse was the detailed descriptions of the "actions" themselves! Seriously, how much debauchery must exist in the minds of these writers!? If these authors want to write erotica that much, then would it hurt to use ORIGINAL characters?

Whenever I read a fanfiction, I expect to read a story that is entertaining. I did not click on that fanfiction link just to read something like:

And Hero #1 looked at Heroine #2 as their eyes met in the ecstasy of the moment. Soon the two of them were making passionate love amid the battle scene that involved Villain #3. Soon Hero#1, Heroine#2, and Villain #3 were joined in a threesome that soon turned into an orgy involving the cast! Even Mook #120 decided to join in for some fun! Followed by Nameless #347 and a few others we cannot name!

The second I read something like this is the second I lose interest immediately.

Eroticism in fanfiction just needs to stop. Seriously! It is ruining the entire concept of fanfiction itself! This might be one of the reasons why professional authors and artists are condemning fanfiction altogether! Would anyone feel comfortable watching the very characters they drafted and designed being used in sexual situations!? Highly doubtful as I do not believe any author or artist would approve of such writing!

This endless eroticism in fanfiction is why I rarely, if ever, write fanfiction anymore. I am just so disgusted with these stories and tales that no sooner turn to smut the second I read them. As stated previously, once I read a scene like the one I drafted for the sake of argument, I just stop reading.

Feel free to call me a prude. Come to think of it, lets go one step further and just call me a puritan! Just for the record, I am not against anything relating to love in fiction. It is when the entire tale itself is strictly pornographic that infuriates me.

In closing, if you are someone who takes pleasure in reading, or writing, erotic fanfiction, more power to you! Read and write all the filth you want! Just know that not everyone is onboard with these perversions.

I agree- it makes me embarrassed to admit that I read any of it. However, with enough filters, I can sometimes find something well written and where the characters are true to themselves. It's tough, but worth it, especially if its a world I've really enjoyed and want to spend more time in. Grateful for the good fanfic writers that are out there!

  • We’ll have to agree to disagree in your main point. At the very least I can agree with you that stories which take loved characters in a direction which might disenfranchise lovers of the universe involved should be more clearly labeled. Yes, I’ve written erotic fanfiction, no, it’s not ‘in your face’ as you suggest above. But there are some loved characters who, for lack of a better expression, are stupidly stuck in an author or cultural quicksand that prevents them from moving forward. This of course doesn’t mean fully descriptive erotica NEEDS to be used… this I agree. But where is that line? For me evoking that the character has gotten over that foible earlier is favourable. Making a character a ‘slur’ whether male or female, unless important to the original story might be a bit far… but you shouldn’t have to read it, but neither should I have to suffer your complaints about it either. Hence my argument on better labeling of said stories. I mean how hard is it to include a label that states “this story includes misogynistic tendencies and hyper sexual situations that exceed a R rating. Please leave if this hurts your heart”. How hard is it? Not very.
