Fan favorites return to Genoa City

Genoa City is the place to be on Wednesday, January 25 as favorite characters from the past return to The Young and the Restless. The focus on this date will be on Lauren Fenmore Baldwin (Tracey E Bregman) who will be celebrating 40 years on the CBS Soap. Her anniversary coincides with the observance of Y&R being on the air for 50 years. In honor of both events, there will be two special people in Lauren's life who will be on hand as she has flashbacks over her life.

Gloria Bardwell (Judith Chapman) and Fenmore Baldwin (Zack Tinker) will show up on Wednesday. Tinker will only be in this one tribute episode but nothing has been said regarding how long Chapman will be in Genoa City. Daniel Romalotti (Michael Graziadei) has been back for several weeks and Danny Romalotti (Michael Damian) was only in town for a few episodes. The Young and the Restless fans are wondering if Greg Rikaart will reprise his role as Kevin Fisher but there has been no mention of his return at least not yet.

Lauren Fenmore Baldwin is honored

On Wednesday Lauren will receive an award for her work at Fenmore's and this seems a bit off to some who watch The Young and the Restless because very rarely is Lauren shown at work. Newman Enterprises and Newman Media are spoken of or people are actually working there in most episodes but Ms. Fenmore-Baldwin is usually shown eating at society with her husband Michael Baldwin (Christian LeBlanc) and Y&R viewers have no clue who works for her. Fenmore's has not been front and center since October 2021 when Lauren had her designers create a wedding gown for Victoria Newman ( Amelia Heinle) and Vicki chose instead to wear a dress made by Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope).

The Young and the Restless controversy

Bregman certainly deserves to be recognized for 40 years on The Young and the Restless but her recognition is bittersweet because of the drama associated with the soap. Kelsey Wang (Allie Nguyen) and Robert Gibson (Noah Newman) whom fans were enjoying have been placed on recurring status while Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters) and Audra Charles (Zuleyka Charles) whom viewers are not warming up to are being featured. This is why Audra is no longer pursuing Noah and has moved on by working at Newman Enterprises.

Noah and Allie are the third and fourth-generation legacy characters from the Newman and Abbott families but their time was decreased because the soap needed to make budget cuts There is also a rumor that Y&R might kill off Doug Davidson's character Paul Williams who is a legacy character from the 1980s. Some viewers were hoping Paul might be one of the characters to return but that does not seem like it's' going to happen. Lauren and Paul were once pretty close so it would have been nice to see him share this moment with her.

Recent Tributes on The Young and the Restless

The Young and the Restless has done tribute episodes in the past for LeBlanc, (30 years) Melody Scott Thomas (Nikki Newman), and Eric Braeden (Victor Newman). When Braeden was honored there was an entire gallery of photos of his time as Victor that celebrated Newman Enterprises. LeBlanc and Scott had entire episodes dedicated to them that had flashbacks as will be done for Bregman. Be sure to tune in on Wednesday to see what Y&R does for Lauren and how Gloria and Fenmore fit into the scheme of things. The preview shows a young man by Fen's side and some fans believe he will come out as gay so stay tuned.
