Drishyam 3 Ending Explained: Georgekutty’s Surrender and the Shocking Drishyam 4 Twist
Georgekutty defeats another deadly conspiracy, but his final decision proves that escaping the law is not the same as escaping guilt.

Spoiler Warning: This article contains major spoilers from the complete story and ending of Drishyam 3.
For years, Georgekutty has remained one step ahead of the police, Varun’s parents, and almost everyone who tried to expose him. He created false timelines, manipulated evidence, moved a dead body, and protected his family from a crime that could have destroyed their lives.
However, Drishyam 3 changes the central question of the franchise.
This time, the biggest danger is not whether Georgekutty can outsmart his enemies. The real question is whether he can continue living with the person he has become.
The movie takes place several years after the events of Drishyam 2. Georgekutty’s family appears to be living a more comfortable life. His theatre business has grown, and he has even produced a successful movie inspired by the criminal case that once surrounded his family.
To the public, Georgekutty is now a clever businessman and filmmaker. To Varun’s parents, however, he is the man who turned their son’s death into entertainment and profit.
That unresolved anger creates the foundation for the most personal and dangerous battle of the franchise.
Anju’s Marriage Becomes Georgekutty’s New Weakness
Anju has slowly recovered from the psychological trauma caused by Varun’s death and the police investigation. With medical help and the support of her family, she has started living a more normal life.
Georgekutty and Rani now want her to get married and begin a new chapter.
Several marriage brokers bring proposals, but the arrangements repeatedly collapse. Anonymous callers inform the prospective families about Anju’s mental-health history and her connection to the Varun murder case.
Georgekutty soon realizes that these are not random incidents. Someone is deliberately attacking his daughter’s future.
His suspicion initially falls on the people connected to the old investigation. However, the first person exposed is surprisingly close to him—his personal assistant.
The assistant had helped Georgekutty move Varun’s remains during the events of the previous movie. That decision cost him his government job and destroyed the stability of his family. His daughter was left so traumatized after witnessing his suicide attempt that she lost her ability to speak.
His wife blames Georgekutty for everything.
This confrontation forces Georgekutty to face an uncomfortable truth. He saved his own family, but several other lives were damaged in the process.
For the first time, the movie shows Georgekutty without an immediate answer or another clever explanation. He understands that his victories have always required someone else to pay a price.
Sahadevan Returns for Revenge
Georgekutty’s situation becomes more threatening when he notices someone secretly digging in his banana plantation.
The mysterious person is revealed to be Sahadevan, the aggressive police constable from the first film. After losing his position and reputation, Sahadevan has spent years blaming Georgekutty for the destruction of his life.
The reporter who has been secretly following Georgekutty is also revealed to be Sahadevan’s daughter.
Together, the father and daughter have been collecting information about Georgekutty’s family, spreading rumours about Anju and searching for evidence that might reopen Varun’s case.
But Sahadevan is not the real mastermind.
The person financing and directing the entire operation is Varun’s father, Prabhakar.
Prabhakar’s Revenge Plan
While Geetha remains emotionally broken by the loss of her son, Prabhakar has spent years planning his revenge.
He knows that finding Varun’s body may now be impossible. Investigators suspect that Georgekutty purchased an unusually large quantity of acid and permanently destroyed the remains.
Without the body, the original murder case cannot easily be proved.
Therefore, Prabhakar creates a new plan.
Instead of proving what happened to Varun, he decides to frame Anju for another murder.
Prabhakar secretly controls the marriage proposals being presented to Georgekutty’s family. The Dubai-based businessman eventually selected as Anju’s husband is also part of the conspiracy.
The man’s business had collapsed, leaving him trapped under enormous debt. Prabhakar helped him recover financially, but demanded something in return—he had to marry Anju and participate in the plan against her family.
Georgekutty believes he has finally found a respectable husband who can take Anju away from the fear surrounding their home.
In reality, he is unknowingly sending her directly into Prabhakar’s trap.
The Fake Honeymoon Murder
After the wedding, Anju and her husband travel to a private resort for their honeymoon.
There, the groom secretly drugs Anju and leaves her unconscious. Blood is spread around the room, a blood-covered knife is planted nearby, and the groom disappears.
The scene is designed to make it appear that Anju murdered her husband during a psychological breakdown and then arranged for his body to be hidden.
It is a cruel recreation of the Varun case.
Sahadevan video-calls Georgekutty and shows him the terrifying scene. He believes that Georgekutty’s daughter will finally be arrested for murder and that the entire family will be destroyed.
But Prabhakar and Sahadevan’s plan goes even further.
Sahadevan intends to murder the groom for real and bury his body inside Georgekutty’s plantation. Once the body is discovered, the evidence would connect Anju’s supposed crime directly to her father.
Georgekutty understands the plan just in time.
He reaches the plantation, confronts Sahadevan and prevents him from killing the groom. During their violent fight, Georgekutty forces Sahadevan to reveal the complete conspiracy, including Prabhakar’s involvement.
Once again, Georgekutty has discovered the truth before the trap can fully close.
However, his next move is the darkest decision he has ever made.
Why Does Georgekutty Injure Anju?
Georgekutty realizes that simply exposing the fake murder scene may not completely clear Anju’s name. The public and police could still believe that she attacked her husband or suffered another mental breakdown.
To reverse the entire narrative, Georgekutty decides to make Anju appear to be the victim.
He cuts her hands and legs and creates injuries suggesting that someone attacked her inside the resort. When Anju wakes up in the hospital, she gives a statement accusing Sahadevan of assaulting her.
The conspiracy immediately collapses.
Instead of being treated as a murder suspect, Anju becomes the survivor of a planned attack. Sahadevan is trapped by the evidence, while Prabhakar’s role in arranging the fake marriage begins to emerge.
Georgekutty has saved his daughter again.
But this victory breaks something inside him.
In the past, he manipulated strangers, police officers and criminals to protect his family. This time, he physically harmed his own daughter.
He finally realizes that his obsession with protecting his family has transformed him into someone he no longer recognizes.
Why Does Georgekutty Finally Surrender?
After defeating the conspiracy, Georgekutty meets IG Thomas and Prabhakar.
He admits that Varun died because of what happened inside his family’s home. He also accepts that he concealed the truth and destroyed evidence to protect Anju.
Georgekutty offers to surrender and accept imprisonment, even if it means spending several years behind bars.
However, his surrender comes with a condition: his wife and daughters must never be targeted again.
He also warns Prabhakar that he still possesses evidence of the fake marriage, kidnapping and murder conspiracy. If anyone attacks his family again, that evidence will be released.
Georgekutty is not surrendering because his enemies have defeated him. He is surrendering because he wants to end the endless cycle of fear, guilt and revenge.
When his lawyer reminds him that he could still escape punishment, Georgekutty gives the movie’s most powerful confession:
He is no longer afraid of Prabhakar or the police. He is afraid of himself.
That statement explains the entire ending.
Georgekutty knows that every new threat forces him to become more calculating, violent and emotionally detached. If the conflict continues, there may eventually be no moral boundary left for him to cross.
By surrendering, he tries to save his family not only from the law, but also from the darkness growing inside him.
Geetha’s Final Words Explained
Georgekutty enters the court and surrenders, apparently bringing the Varun case to its long-awaited conclusion.
Prabhakar shows the television coverage to Geetha, expecting that Georgekutty’s imprisonment will finally give her peace.
But Geetha is not satisfied.
She says that Georgekutty going to prison changes nothing because Anju was the person directly responsible for Varun’s death.
She still wants Anju.
This final statement proves that Georgekutty’s sacrifice may not end the conflict. Prabhakar may accept the deal, but Geetha’s grief has transformed into an obsession that cannot be resolved through Georgekutty’s punishment alone.
The ending therefore leaves the door open for another chapter.
A possible Drishyam 4 could follow Georgekutty trying to protect his family from inside prison while Geetha launches one final attempt to punish Anju.
Final Thoughts
Drishyam 3 is not simply another story about Georgekutty outsmarting the police.
It is about the psychological cost of constantly winning.
Georgekutty protects Anju once again, exposes Prabhakar’s conspiracy and defeats Sahadevan. Yet emotionally, he reaches his lowest point. Injuring his own daughter makes him understand that protecting his family at any cost has slowly destroyed his humanity.
His surrender is therefore not a defeat. It is the first truly honest decision he has made since Varun’s death.
However, Geetha’s final threat makes one thing clear: Georgekutty may have ended his own game, but the war surrounding his family is far from over.
