Dragon Ball Super

Dragon Ball Super anime has been on hiatus for about two years now. While fans have been waiting for the next season, many people have started making lists of what they want to see. In this story, I'll describe one such wish.

Remember that bad ass kid Gohan who obliterated Cell using Kamehameha with just one arm? Now see the guy in the middle of the picture. Feel old yet? Long gone are the days of having Gohan as one of the most bad ass and powerful saviors. Now, the difference in his power and Goku's is overwhelming. On one hand, I feel good for Goku that he is becoming stronger yet, on the other side, I feel bad for Gohan, for not being able to protect his loved ones as more and more powerful enemies keep appearing.

In the Cell Saga, the confidence that Goku showed in his son, Gohan, that he was the only one who could destroy Cell and bring peace back on Earth, is no more as shown in Dragon Ball Super; when Goku told Vegeta that Gohan is rusty and should not be selected for the ten members team to fight in the Tournament of Power. He did not even think that Gohan could use the remaining time to train himself again and unlock his tremendous potential once again. This is the thing that saddens me.

Don't get me wrong. I don't want him to get ridiculously strong but I don't want him to become one of the members of "hold them until Goku gets here" gang, for instance the Golden Freiza Arc. Of course, the creators cannot make the anime such that all the characters get the chance to shine individually and show their overwhelming powers. However, with what we saw in Dragon Ball Z, Gohan is an important character who deserves attention.

If one tries to see why Gohan seeks strength, you'll get to know why he deserves that strength too. I mean, a Saiyan who doesn't leave his family, who cares for nature, is an ally of the weak and has no evil intentions; where else will you get all these qualities.

In the Tournament of Power Arc, DBS did redeem him a bit, showing how he is a master in planning by making him the leader of Universe 7 with no objections from anyone, but he deserves much more for being such a nice being. And why I am being hopeful that Gohan will make a comeback is because of the Ultimate form. The form that has never been seen before and could rival Ultra Instinct. Gohan said that he wants to achieve this overwhelming form by himself for the benefit of the ones he cares for. And he was shown to try achieving this form in a different way than the usual Super Saiyan Blue which was one of the top forms achieved by Goku and Vegeta.

Gohan, along with Goku and Vegeta should be the main cast of the anime. In a way that, people don't have to rely on Goku and Vegeta to come and save them, while they have been gone to achieve greater heights and become stronger. If Gohan is able to hold on his own, it would mean that Goku and Vegeta would not only be able to help other people of different world but also, the people on Earth would be content to see that they will be taken care of by the hero living with them. I hope Toei Animation does justice to Gohan and let him protect the ones he care for, by himself.
