Dorit's Fantasy Adventure

Perhaps everyone already knows that Dolittle (Du Lide) suffered from word of mouth as soon as the film was released, and it was almost totally disastrous.

So what exactly is this movie like? Is it really that bad?

With such low expectations, I went to see this movie. As one thing said, this movie is for children and children under 10 years old. Although the story is complete, it is actually boring. There is no innovation and no creative special effects. It is estimated that the movie wants to create a younger version of Pirates of the Caribbean. However, the motivation and logic of the story really can't be considered at all, and the coherence of the story is very poor. The characters played by Nini are not deeply impressed.

However, if there are children at home, you can have a family visit, that is, 100 minutes, and you can understand why the popcorn index and the public's tolerance. After all, if you regard this movie as a film for young children, it has nothing wrong with it, and it is easy to understand and has no ambition. If you evaluate a children's work with the standards of an adult, it is somewhat out of date.

In addition, the starring role is Nini, which naturally attracts a large wave of iron powder, and the public's praise will also rise. Many people wonder why Nini participated in a children's film. According to Nini's own interview, he has long wanted to make a work that belongs to them for children. In fact, when he took over Iron Man, it was also for children.

This is his own personal reason, but there is also a very realistic reason that Nini can't refuse, that is, Universal has offered a contract of 25 million US dollars' pay+share. Who can resist this sugar-coated cannonball?

As for the story itself, it was adapted from the children's literary work Doctor Dolittle of the same name, which is very popular in children's books. In fact, it is not the first time that it was remake into a film and television work. Before that, there were 1967 and 1998 editions, among which 1998 was also made into a series starring Eddie Murphy.

However, the word-of-mouth responses of these two versions are very general, and not many people can remember them in the end.

One day, a little boy accidentally injured a squirrel in hunting. Under the guidance of a parrot, the little boy took the squirrel to Du Lide for help. At the same time, the Queen of England sent someone to find Du Lide to go out and ask Du Lide to save the dying Queen of England. Under the persuasion of the parrot, Du Lide set off to heal the Queen. To save the strange illness of the Queen, it is necessary to find a legendary Eden fruit.

So under the guidance of the parrot, Du Lide went out to sea to look for the fruit of Eden, and by the way, the parrot took the boy who wanted to be an apprentice to Du Lide.

In this adventure journey, Du Lide's words and deeds all tried to rely on the personality of Captain Jack of Pirates of the Caribbean, but it was a younger version.

After that, Du Lide and his animal companions, pursued by British warships, came to the island of their father-in-law, because it collected the travel diary of Du Lide's deceased wife, which recorded the route to find Eden fruit.

Between Du Lide and his father-in-law, there was also an emotional entanglement and relief.

Finally, Du Lide and his party went to the island with Eden fruit, cured the dragon suffering from colitis there, got the fruit, healed the queen, and reopened his own animal hospital manor.

To sum up, this is a very simple story, without a little bit of complicated logic. A parrot goes through the whole story and enlightens Du Lide's heart and life. I want to say, why did you go to the parrot for so many years?

The narrative fault feeling of the film is also very serious. In other words, the running account is both visual and obviously an urgent event, but it is busy with other things in the middle, which makes the main story of the film drift away.

For example, saving the Queen is always a matter of every minute, but Du Lide's whole team feels leisurely all the time, and finally gives a dragon to treat colitis. Although it plays a role in finding fruit, there is no necessary connection between them.

I know that this narrative structure is similar to Pirates of the Caribbean, but why does Pirates of the Caribbean work and Du Lide cool down?

The main core is that the character Du Lide lacks personality charm, which obviously leads to a great wave of Nini powder resistance. Nini's acting skills are of course remarkable in some works, but in this film, it can be said that people are not impressed at all. Although Nini has deliberately lowered her voice and created a very British rascal, the characters' lines and stage performances have not created anything special.

In the first third of the movie, it was mentioned again and again that Du Lide can talk with animals, so as to emphasize beating the audience. Look! Du Lide is really special. He can really talk to animals. I want to say that it's 2020. The audience hasn't seen any big waves of vision and characters. Is there still a Du Lide who can talk to animals?

Moreover, not only is there no attraction in Du Lide, but other characters have not aroused the audience's resonance. The villains and supporting roles in the symbolic plane can't set off the function of the leading role, especially the two young actors, one man and one woman, who are chosen, can be said to have no acting skills.

This $175 million Dolittle has not only Nini, but also the Dutch brother of Spider-Man, Lamy marek of Bohemian Rhapsody, Voldemort Ralph Fiennes, Emma Thompson and many other first-line stars.

I believe Universal had high expectations and confidence when making this film, just like when making Cat at the beginning, because Du Lide is a popular series of children's literature, and has also made six Du Lide films. I guess Universal also wanted to make its own series after this restart, so it used such a large-scale production cost.

But just like the dark monster universe around the world, it was declared cool from the first work of Mummy.

Of course, this movie still has the only thing worthy of recognition, that is, the expression capture and performance of animals, which is much better than the real indifferent face of The Lion King. At least, the audience can see the expression management of each animal, but in any case, it can't return to the decline at the box office of this movie.

Ok, let's call it a day for Dolittle. I also like Nini very much. I hope he can quickly find a role that belongs to his own charm again after saying goodbye to Iron Man.
