DISCLOSURE OF THE AFTERMATH OF SHOCKING DEATH SCENES BY 'GREY'S ANATOMY' AND 'STATION 19' STAR KRISTA VERNOFF

The two teenage girls were abducted and ultimately that led to the arrest of Robert and Dean by a white cop. The episode also comprised the farewell of Andrew DeLuca(Giacomo Gianniotti), one of the most loved doctors in Grey's Anatomy.

Amidst the discussion of the station 19 firefighters who were trying to process the events of the previous day and had conversations on the apparent racism in policing, the storyline shifted towards a successful conclusion which included a multi-season kidnapping. DeLuca last appeared in the finale of fall. DeLuca had just spotted Opal - who was the most suspect child- trafficking kingpin. Opal had triggered the last season as a manic. Opal was spotted in the parking lot of Grey Sloan. DeLuca, who was also accompanied by his sister Carina, drove off to follow Opal's car.

Later, DeLuca went to Captain Maya Bishop and her team to ask for help in the operation followed by. DeLuca's effort was successful as Opal was arrested but Opal's accomplice stabbed DeLuca.

Carina stayed by DeLuca's side as he was rushed to the Grey Sloan. DeLuca underwent an emergency surgery which was pronounced successful. The surgery was led by Owen and Teddy. However, DeLuca developed DIC and died in the operating room despite Teddy and Owen's best efforts.

As DeLuca was nearing the brink of death, he got to spend time on the beach in a dream sequence with Meredith.

DeLuca later remained unresponsive in the episode, as he was hooked on the ventilator.

“I don’t know what happens from here Meredith, but no matter what happens, I want you to know that I never felt seen the way you saw me, I never felt inspired the way you inspired me, you made me want to be not just my best self but better,” DeLuca said. The couple's romance was interrupted due to the pandemic. Their romance received a final yet touchy conversation before DeLuca told Meredith, “You’ll be OK, Meredith.

After uttering his last words, DeLuca runs to his late mother who waved at him from the heavens. As DeLuca's body flatlined, he was reunited with his mother on the beach following a sweet embrace.

Grey's Anatomy star and station 19 showrunner, Krista Vernoff discussed in an interview with Deadline the decision to kill DeLuca in this season. She also hinted at the significance of DeLuca's death and also the impact that will have on his sister and Meredith.

Krista Vernoff also hinted towards the Teddy-Owen angle after their newly discovered bond during the fighting for DeLuca's life.

Krista also elaborated on whether viewers will get to see DeLuca again in the 18th season of the series. She also threw light on Meredith's status in season 18.

On being asked about the impact of DeLuca's death on Carina and Meredith, Krista answered, "There’s a profound impact. He had become beloved, and all those doctors had come together in the intervention and come to care about him. So, there’s a real impact on his sister and on everyone who loved him. The big sort of question mark is Meredith. You know Meredith is not awake and, while she was with DeLuca on that beach, there’s a question mark as to how it will impact her."
